Teenage mother to be sentenced

Reading these posts makes me realize how terribly illiterate people in this area are,so it comes as no surprise that the teen pregnancy rates are so high. It is like a status symbol to have a baby while in high school or soon thereafter.Paradis e is like a giant trailer park, where are the parents and or role models? I guess they also had kids out of wedlock, and while still in school? At least you could use the spell check feature. It's when what you type is underlined in red, right click on it and it gives you correct spelling options,if you went to school and paid attention you would know which spelling correction to choose. All the old cliche's ring true here, you reap what you sow, and if you can't feed them don't breed them. The only problem with the first one is we are talking about a human life, who will probably fall into the same cycle as their predecessors.  (Wednesday Aug 6 | post #57)

The ugly strain of Ridge fascism

Time to change the channel. This program is boring. Mind control, distractio ns from the real problems in this world. We Americans have a limited view of the world, like what you read online or see on T.V.is what you base your world view/opinions on. Less than 1/4 of Americans have passports, and have never left the comfort of the U.S.A. America is not the most loved country in the world. The world does not revolve around the Ridge. Most of the people in Paradise are retired, and sentient, who have a very limited view of the real world. They want to elect a 71 year old man as president. He can't even send an e-mail without help, friggin' dinosaur. He should retire, maybe on the ridge, he earned it. Then he would be among like minded old people who want to keep things like they were in the old days. Times have changed, we now spend time and effort to respond to meaningless issues, like this one, while the world around us keeps getting worse. Gas is 4.00 a gallon, the working class is becoming a slave class, you will never be able to get ahead like previous generations, like all the retirees on the ridge who can afford to retire. Did you forget that the vice president's company, Haliburton gets paid 52 million dollars a month to supply the war machine in Iraq and Afghanistan? He is the major stockholder, and only stepped down as the C.E.O. to be the vice president? He's in his 70's, and he worked for Nixon, so did Rumsfeld. As soon as he is out of office he will step right back into his C.E.O. position. Next time you vote, do some research online, instead of wasting time writing comments on a non-issue.  (Tuesday Aug 5 | post #109)

It's August? It must be time for Reggae Rising

I was at the first Reggae Rising show and I am referring to it. Reggae Rising is just a name. I do not need to lively up myself,do you even overstand what that phrase means? Most people who come to this show know all about the "party" atmosphere, and Reggae music is just a side thought to them. I love Reggae music, I believe Haille Selassie was the prophet mentioned in the book of Revelations,he was a real person who lived in our time. Know your roots and culture, mine is American, not Jamaican. Nor is it one of suffering like people in J.A. or other repressed parts of the world. Most of the white people who sport dreadlocks, to them it is just a hairstyle. To Rastafarian's it is part of their religion, and identity. It is a serious thing. They don't drink alcohol, eat meat,or eat foods that are not "Ital", which means vital, as in vital for life. I avoid being around such things, as coke and other hard drugs,it is my personal choice. To have a hard drug party with reggae music is against the musics message.  (Friday Aug 1 | post #5)

It's August? It must be time for Reggae Rising

Did anyone mention the coke dealers? Reggae Rising and or Reggae On The River have become a hard drug party. For the last two years, the place is over run by inner city gangs selling coke and crack, these kids aren't Reggae fans, they are there to make money off so called Reggae fans. The vibration has been ruined by these negative elements, and our family has chosen to miss the event this year for that very reason. These two events are a commercial success, but are a real let down for true Reggae fans.  (Thursday Jul 31 | post #1)

Tree 'hit-and-runs' upset residents

How long after a fire do you harass people with this super tanker crap? You could have the tankers water the new trees that P.G.& E. said they were planting, that's all their good for now in Concow, go away.  (Saturday Jul 26 | post #39)

Police Chief: Flynn's DUI due to prescription drugs, not alcohol

Here's some facts to consider. The cop who "responded " to the 911 call about a impaired person in the parking lot who jumped the curb, ran over some landscaping and struck the building, something like that. They probably did a field sobriety test, she failed, and was jailed. Are you following me? There was a point when she had to make a decision, should I go out and get something to eat? or should I exercise caution when operating a motor vehicle because the meds I'm on have warning labels telling me these facts? Obviously her judgment was impaired.  (Thursday Jul 24 | post #87)

The P.G.&.E crews we met were very helpful, cleaning and stacking the trees in the areas around power lines on our property. They also cut a lot of trees that weren't anywhere close to the power lines, they made a new road to access the area which did us a big favor,Kudos to them.A few logging companies are advertising in the area, clear cut for cash it seems. They are busy at the end of Concow road. A good part of the area is being clear cut, it doesn't matter at this point, the area looks like Moonscape already. The winter rains are coming.  (Thursday Jul 24 | post #30)

Protection burn likely contributes as Camp Fire rages into Conc...

Probably the same person who was quoted in the ChicoE.R. as saying, "the fire was going to get in there anyway", referring to Concow.  (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #193)

Also, the people marking the trees were two very young guys in a small white pick-up, Arizona tags, with a company logo I didn't recognize, driving down the road and stopping randomly and spraying trees slated for removal. The decision of what trees to cut was made on the spot by these fellows. They could be highly trained Arborists, with years of experience making these decisions, and all the trees marked needed to be cut down. They looked to be in their 20's, and were having a good time it seemed.  (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #3)

What a stupid thing to say, you are a land raper too. My brother has 40 acres in Concow, and the P.G.&.E crews cut down a lot of trees without his permission. They wrecked the land, the mess they made would have been much harder to clean-up if the work was done by real Arborists. He was there when it happened, he confronted them, it was done by a all Mexican/non- english speaking crew of chainsaw wielding idiots, not trained Arborists. They sent a P.G.&.E supervisor who helped them out in a very big way. He apologized, and had the crew of **** , buck and stack all the cut trees, and had a dozer come in and plow a landing pad for future clean-up ease. The crews are cutting down trees and leaving them where they lay, creating a bigger problem for land owners in the future.  (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #2)

Police Chief: Flynn's DUI due to prescription drugs, not alcohol

Who cares? Obviously Flynn has connections in the police department, or this story would be just another D.U.I. bust, by Suzy Q. Public. Why is the Police Chief saying anything at all? She mixed different prescription drugs to get high and crashed her car, end of story.  (Tuesday Jul 22 | post #9)

The policeman is our friend - sometimes

17 days straight! How much overtime is that? It takes 4 months to install a traffic light on Skyway at Wagstaff ,not enough money to finish the project?Mismanagement bordering on criminality. Thats what happens when law enforcement has zero accountability. Who authorized the overtime? Nobody knows or cares.  (Jul 20, 2008 | post #86)
