Relay for Life

I am a cancer patient and participated in Relay For Life. I can't believe all you petty little people, complaining of the noise. I guess you think the world would be better off with me dead? I, too pray you will never need the services RFL offers to cancer patients. I hope you can learn compassion, but not by having yourself or a loved one get sick. The point of the music is too keep us pumped up, and too, we are celebrating our recovery and offering hope to those not doing well. If you could just see the effect on some of these patients. Some are too weak to walk, yet they see total strangers willing to stay up all night and not stop in an effort to find a cure for them. For some, RFL is the only glimmer of hope they have. the closing ceremony is one of the most touching ceremonies, we have all just given it our all and we do a last lap and release a balloon every 5 feet or so and we are watching our hope drift up and spread out through the world. it is beautiful and heart-touching.  (4 hrs ago | post #10)

Should people on food stamp be able buy junk food?

So the possibility of saving others is more important than his own children's well being? His self image means more to him than his childrens emotional and physical health? I nearly died from cancer, and so I head a relay-for-life team, but I certainly would not let my children go without physical nourishment in order to do so. You are not describing a selfless lifestyle, you are describing a very narcissistic one, a lifestyle in which you and your husbands self-image takes precedence over what is best for your children.  (Yesterday | post #3637)

I pay for her foodstamps, I also pay for my state insurance. I pay for my prescription cancer meds. How come she can feed herself and her family on my tax money, yet i have to pay money i earn for getting sick? Are she and her family somehow better or more special then me and mine? She doesn't get FS because of illness or disability, she gets them because she refuses to contribute to society.  (Yesterday | post #3636)

1st off- can I remember you in my prayers? 2cd off-you and your son are not exploiting the system and you should not feel humiliated or ashamed. I am sending happy thoughts your way, which I know doesn't help in the reality, but it is the best I can do. You're obviously a strong and brave woman.  (Yesterday | post #3635)

What makes you and your kids so much more special than me and mine? Why do I have to pay my money to feed your kids and you don't have to pay for my cancer treatment?  (Yesterday | post #3607)

My oldest son is an Aspie, that is not true. SSI comes from the federal gov't not state so don't say your state is different. (My son receives NO assistance of any kind, neither SSI or anything, oh he gets a pell grant for college, but that is all} I know this because when he graduated high school he had to be declared, by the State, to be capable of living on his own and during this process we were told what benefits he could receive if he was deemed incompetent. he was deemed very competent and so receives no assistance, except the pell grant, which everyone in the state of Missouri can get. So, OFS, your brother got around $701.00 per month for the year of 2006.  (Yesterday | post #3600)
