Home Invasion Attempt's in Stevensville

Around 3 a.m. Friday morning my Daughter called me and said that the police had just left her house. She called 911 to report that someone was trying to enter her home through a window and her sliding glass door. She was told by the 911 dispatcher that the police were in the area because another resident had reported someone was trying to break into their home also. The officer arrived at my Daughter's door within minutes and looked at the bedroom window where she heard the noise. The screen was off of the window as well as being bent from the struggle to remove it. The window it's self had been locked. No entery was made, thank goodess! I'm posting this in hopes that resident's of Stevensville will take caution and pay attention to all door's and window's making sure that they are locked. Take notice of your neighbor's homes as well. Let's face it, if someone is wondering around at that time of the morning, they're most likely up to no good. Who will pay my medical bills when I retire?

So far all I see are questions about Medical/Health Insurance......... . our government is spending our money on ignorant choices, we don't stand a chance. It's not toward's any United State's born and raised citizen's who pay taxes and have the I.R.S. investigate our S.S.# in search of an audit. This country's health care is aimed at the low income ppl. I agree that some health care should be provided, but not abused as it has happened here and I've witnessed it generation after generation and so on, ect....Let's stop the madness and consider where the benifits belong rightfully! What about the elderly who have worked all their lives (way back when an American was an American) they've payed taxes and have had their money spent on Welfare or Disability Recipients. "No pun intended". Let's give our elders some respect and change the rights for them before we start taking care of someone's mistakes, by that I mean "allowing illegal immagrant's" into our country and draing our pockets dry. I'd love to post a Billboard at the Boarder and Welfare offices "too many ppl here in the U.S.A., we have no seats for you to sit here in our government office's while you wait for assistance from the taxpayers who don't have Health Insurance themselves." We're over populated as it is. Look in the Classifieds, that's your only choice. Oh and by the way, Speak and Write English on your application for "employment ". We've gotten way out of hand. Freedom isn't free! Someone had to pay! We are Born and Raised Americans! Instead of The MINORITY!!  (Sep 19, 2009 | post #1)

Should people who are on welfare be subject to a Drug Test?

People like you "Kracker " are the reason I think you who are on Welfare should be drug tested.... you must be shaking in your boot's right now wondering if you'll be able to receive your next check. "By stealing my tax dollar's to support you and other's out there who are just like you." Oh, by the way I heard that Welfare also pays for drug counseling. Just another way to see that my tax dollars are hard at work.......  (Sep 19, 2009 | post #3)

Escaped Convicts

June I hope this article is helpful for you. 2 escaped convicts remain on the loose Comments July 17, 2009 By Christin Nance Lazerus, Post-Tribune staff writer Law enforcement officers called off a search for one of the escaped prisoners on Thursday night around Michigan City. Police searched areas around the Carroll Avenue South Shore train station in Michigan City for nearly 12 hours on Thursday, until storms moved in around 7:15 p.m. » Click to enlarge image Michigan City residents watch Thursday as armed officers keep a perimeter along Roeske Avenue in after escapees from the Indiana State Prison were spotted in the area. (Michael McArdle/Post-Tribu ne) RELATED STORIES • Feds wonder if Komyatti knew about escape plan Convicted rapist Lance Battreal, 45, and 46-year-old Mark Booher, a convicted murderer, are still on the lam after escaping from the Indiana State Prison on Sunday. Murderer Charles Smith, 48, was captured Monday outside Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's vacation home in Grand Beach, Mich. Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Police Chief Robert Byrd said a pair of employees spotted a man emerging from a wetland area near the passenger coach yard around 8:30 a.m. Byrd said when the man -- who was described as grungy-looking with dark hair -- realized the employees were looking at him, he ran back into the wetland area near Trail Creek. Byrd said the description led officers to believe the man might be Battreal. Transit police were notified and called in help from Indiana State Police, Indiana State Prison, Michigan City Police, LaPorte County Police, Department of Natural Resources, Trail Creek Police and Long Beach Police. Several K9 units were dispatched, but the search yielded no results. Around 2 p.m., the same man was spotted on Karwick Road without a shirt, then he ran back into the woods. About 100 officers formed a perimeter bounded by Roeske Avenue, Springland Avenue, Karwick Road and the South Shore tracks. K9 units and a police helicopter with an infrared camera patrolled the area, but the brush was so thick it impeded movement and ripped clothing. Area resident Amy Penrod and her son were watching police attempt to flush the man out of the woods with the K9 units, but a deer did emerge from the area. "My son and I have been watching all day, and they've been combing the area back and forth," Penrod said. "The deer was running around the fenced in area and then ran across the street." Byrd said that transit police will continue to maintain a police presence in case there are any more sightings. The area is about a mile from a similar sighting and search along U.S. 12 Wednesday. The prisoners escaped by following city sewage pipes and emerged from a manhole outside the prison. Three Indiana State Prison guards were suspended for failing to properly supervise the inmates. Investigators claimed the guards did not keep a close enough watch over the inmates. The prisoners had worked in the utility tunnels that they maneuvered through in Sunday's escape at the prison outside Michigan City. There's nothing to indicate the guards knew of the escape plans or otherwise aided in the inmates' escape. Three Oaks Teens - have too much time on their hands.

Okay, it's been 3 day's and not one reply to my post. I'll have to work on this subject myself. I'm going to our local businesses in search of a sponsor. I've spoke to some our local teens and they agree with my idea and are willing to help the elderly people of Three Oaks. Encouragement goes a long ways when you get right down to it! That's pretty much all it takes when you ask Three Oaks Teens for their help. I let them know that someone here in our town could really use their help. Let's call it "Paying It Forward".  (Apr 22, 2009 | post #2)

Three Oaks Teens - have too much time on their hands.

I'm wondering if there is anyone here in the community that could assist me in helping these teen's stay busy? I've seen many teens walking around with no sense of direction. From my own experience as a teen I know that there are other thing's to do (since there isn't a place for them to occupy their minds and time here in Three Oaks). For instance, I'm sure there are some elderly people who are unable to rake or mow their yard's. Trimming hedges or washing window's too. Not to mention being on a limited income they can't afford to pay for it either. We could offer our services on a donation basis. I'm willing to supervise the teens and ask local businesses to help in our effort. I know some teens who are capable of helping out too. I'm sure they would get a sense of graditude and pride, just knowing that they would be helping the elderly. I've heard adult's say that our teen's are only out to cause trouble, hanging around on Elm St. and with the Summer Break ahead teen's will only be outside walking around more and more. They don't like to be kept at home, so they walk..... With posting this I'm hoping to help both the Elderly and Teen's. I'll be checking in everyday on this post and hope that someone out there feels the same way as I do. We can't change or better the teen situation if we only talk about it and stand by doing nothing to help. All replies will be greatly appreciated. La Porte family hopeful, four years after abduction

"John Doe and No Name" must not have read the heading. HOPEFUL, meaning they are clinging on to the only thing they have and that's hope that he will return. I hope that he will too. Put yourselves in his or better yet their shoes. How dare you to make such hurtful comments. You both are the one's who should move on and if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. God Bless him and his "Hopeful " Family!! People on food stamps should

Add to the list that they should be subject to random drug test's too. Most, not all are selling drugs and not seeking employment. Shit they don't have to, free government money and illegal drug sells give them all the extra money. I'm sure they are sitting very nice and cozy. While there are those who depend on the assistance for health care for their children and budget their grocery shopping.  (Apr 4, 2009 | post #456)

You are too quick to judge me. I don't give a rat's ass. You're the one who doesn't make sense. Must've hit a nerve w/you, are you on welfare and buying/selling drugs? Ignorance is bliss, you're a prime example of that....  (Apr 4, 2009 | post #14)
