The political neutrality at KTVI has caved in. Sure, Nixon is a democrat, but he is also a conservative spender, something rare in the Democratic Party. However, we can't afford any republican leadership to opt the state out of public health care, appropriate $6 Billion toward a nuclear powerplant while Kansas and Iowa become powerful wind producing states, the continued environmental pollution of the Lake of the Ozarks, accepting major factories and military divisions to LEAVE the state, and derailing rural and urban relief programs. If you can't get a job, you can't get health insurance. If over 1 in 10 people are unemployed in this country, and the stock market goes up, employment goes down, and the rich continue to get richer while the middle class continues to be pushed into poverty, it's time we laid down the law on the rich insurance companies who take away employers' freedom to keep good workers because they are sick or has someone in their family who is sick! It's time we take down the insurance companies who deny life saving treatments or rehabilitation. The insurance company has no right to fire workers at companies they do not manage because suddenly acne is a prexisting condition that prevents a woman from dying of breast cancer. It's time to take back control from insurance corporations who tell small businesses to fire a worker because their child has autism and the insurance copmany doesn't want to pay for mental health treatment, or a little girl goes blind because the insurance company doesn't want to pay the $20,000 surgery to saver her eyesight, or set lifetime healthcare limits for a boy born with only one arm because his family already spent the maximum $30,000 before he was a teenager and now can't get a prosthesis that fits. These are the children who will not forgive the old senator who told them no. If any of the republicans children had these problems and it required the cost of insurance to cover the treatment, they would be all for it. But "screw everybody else's children." They have what they want, "everyone else can go kiss off!" This "I got mine, screw you and get your own" attitude ends now!  (Sunday Nov 22 | post #1)

Is it me or was there a hint of antisemitism in the crowd? (Pay attention to the signs. You might see it.) At any rate, I count no more than FORTY people at this rally. No visible minorities in the crowd (i.e. black, hispanic, or asian). The TEA party crowd is getting smaller as common sense is finally kicking in. Senator Bond, who is a lame duck senator (retiring next year), has no sympathy for the sick, disabled, or otherwise downtrotten. "Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges," Bond said. "He said, 'I'm tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.'" - CBS News, October 31, 2008 ( http://www.cbsnews .com/blogs/2008/10 /30/politics/fromt heroad/entry455820 4.shtml ) Bond has everything he needs to live to be a very old man. Unless he is cut down in a fatal accident or terminal illness, he is old enough to collect on Medicare and Social Security. Of course, if the bill fails (which it won't), it would be ammusing to see a retired Senator Bond have treatment rejected due to his PREXISTING CONDITION of amblyopia. The fact that this biased report didn't so much as feature Senator McCaskill, except to show a photo over her, is very un-KTVI-like. (counterpropaganda was right. Expect the Murdoch Right-wing Spin Machine to kick into overdrive over the next month.) The fact that republicans continue to state that the Congressional Budget Office is "Non-Partisan " and that the Public Health Care system will set us back $3.2 Trillion (not at all mentioning that that would be the cost OVER A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS! So Technically, The government does have $320 Billion to spare. It's not like they'll spend any of that on the military to end to end the war any time soon) is a poor excuse to kill the bill. The one thing that I do not like about this bill is the fact that the legislation in it doesn't go into effect until 2014. But there are alot of people who are very sick who may not make it to 2014. Which is why this legislation needs to be enforced by 2010, especially if states with republican leaders or fiscally conservative democrats (i.e. Governor Nixon) could opt-out of the program within now and 2014. Which is why the option to opt-out must be written out of the bill. It would be like Mayor Slay opting out of state funding to support the Metro bus system so that more lofts could be build in Downtown. This "screw you, I have mine. Get you own" mentality by people like Senator Bond is heartless especially when there are many people who can't find work or afford to "get their own".  (Sunday Nov 22 | post #24)

A little girl in Missouri could get her hearing back...but the Insurance company said "No" to her $20,000 treatment. A young boy in Michigan, born with only one arm, could get a prothesis that could allow him to use two hands...but the Insurance company said "No" and stated that there was a $30,000 lifetime limit on healthcare coverage. (Many of us will never spend only $30,000 in a single year.) Health Insurance workers lose their jobs, while their bosses recieve extravagant bonuses for themselves and their peers.
