Like everything, there are plenty of people who need this and use it wisely. And like every program, there are plenty who take advantage of it. I knew a gal years back, had two children. She was recently divorced and was on welfare. She used food stamps to buy food for her friends, she lived in a 300,000.00 home (her father was extremely rich, so I have no idea how she was eligiable.). So I've seen the worst of'm. The only way to regulate this, is to spend even more money on audits/auditors. So it's waste either way. (Monday Jul 28 | post #1813)

I agree that parents shouldn't have their rights taken from them. I think what's happening though, is that these names are so outrageous that years later, the courts have to take time when the children try to change them. So I pretty much have left it up to the individual to decide for themselved. That being said, I can't imagine denying an 11 yr old rape victim this option. I also was making the point you tried to do above, except that I correctly showed that liberals hate everything a republican president does, even when he switches his stance. The Daily Show stopped being satire a long time ago. That being said, Stewart made his comments at a political function (and not as a comic), and NOT on his show.
