Ok please enlighten us with your findings 1) what is the "real" purpose of the levy 2)what does it really mean to the community, school,k ids (remember teachers were not included in your statement) I would appreciate your answers especially if they don't mirror the past/current politico statements of the BOE/ADMIN (3 hrs ago | post #1269)

the part that i have with the link is it is 30 minute drive (with a bus) - I would have to say to get from boro HS to Alter would be pushing it and I know that under normal conditions - boro transports to Alter. why is the standard time rather than miles and is it 30 minutes at school times ?? here is what I know - Boro provides transportion for several private schools (and in normal situation - Fenwick/Alter HS students are gathered at Boro HS and trucked to their schools as a unit - But I am not personnally aware if this continues with the Boro No HS busing - someone else can shine the light on it. But I know that the BOE is going to state - the STATE makes us do it if it is true. So it just re-affirms the lack of validity on the busing tach of the BOE (8 hrs ago | post #1251)

and what you are ignoring is the point others have made - its not the monies spent in the proper manner and on proper assets. it is the monies spent on the "bennys" for non-school assets while stopping legit school actions (ie busing). If you want to ignore the obivous that is ok but don't assume the condition at boro is the same as other schools - Athens / Vinton county schools (county school) have more students lower property values less monies - Cleveland city school have more students higher property values more monies but that has no value to the boro resident - if you want that - start a state tax funding movement - then all kids are equal in Ohio - and "My kids deserve the best" followers can pay for their kids to go to private schools - (9 hrs ago | post #1246)

THANK YOU FOR THE LINK - yes as a smart person stated" I's see better than I's hears. What purpose would going after a boro resident expressing an opinon or providing information to the general public and again I challenge anyone on the "pro" or "con" side of this issue to provide information. it is up to me personally to decide the "truth" in the statment- for example if I'd believed the "PRES" AD we have a choice of anti-war activist or a "six house home owner who is a mini-bush. But reality - I am responsible for my preparation not the spin doctors who prey on the unknowing/unwillin g to learn voter. My only advise in all politico tellings is to do your own due diligence. OR USE THE PAPER SCISSORS METHOD IN THE VOTING BOOTH - just don't wave your hands about too high - otherwise you will get weird looks from the voting site workers (9 hrs ago | post #1245)

I think the main point is that you are equating the program to it's graduates - which is a poor methodology - every grad from OSU is neither great or poor (btw one of my degrees from OSU class "73") the man is a product of the system the system is not a reflection of the man. NOW having said that the man is a reflection of his action here at Boro You sound link the politicos in the President event talking about things that happen 20 years ago - Dr Baker should be valued or devalued as to his actions here at boro - IMO poor leadership/"g reater than thou" image"/Deatta ch from his real bosses(taxpayer/pa rents/etc) I feel that the people here are stating their image of him here at boro unlike you stating "he is a PHD from a top program" top programs do not automatically mean top grads much like the situation at BORO - we have graduated "BUMS/MURDERS /RAPISTS/Drug runners" as well as "Doctors/auth ors/just plain good "people" " (11 hrs ago | post #1238)

Sorry to say - but you are the one that is incorrect - property tax 1 mill on your $1million house in 1990 the millage stays the same the value of your house gos up - ie the house that I bought in 1980 has a tax valuation 30 % higher than the value I bought at in 1980 so that 1 mill in 1980 is now worth 1.333 mill (est) to school (my tax bill shows that increased amount - the millage is a factor of Cost of living theory of economics - As the "value" of your property moves so does your cost of the millage. the inverse theory that you are stating is not correct by common sense - millage can't be inverse to the "value" of the property otherwise as the economic situation went postive your property value would go down which everyone knows not true. your continuation example is incorrect as well - each continuation can and normally is rolled over - as proof have you ever seen two contination levies on the same ballot.. I have not but I could be incorrect my analogy explaination stands you are attempting to mis-direct the intention The use of multi-levy attempts (vote no and it comes back again) shows this as well as the multi-phrased in tax the school district just attempted. if a person thinks $3.05 is a deal when in 2008 he paid $2.99 just because the price was $3.50 a couple of weeks ago (which was my intent). the current system is designed to express that same intent otherwise why would the BOE have even suggested the phrase-in approach Be truth and state we are going to ask for increases over the next 5 years. Not lump them together and hope it passes. Another example is the ISSUE#6 - they couldn't get the money release one way so now we vote on the "death pill" constitutional amend - hide the "bad" part deep in the issue and smear 5000 new jobs (but that is not guarenteed) as sugar on the pill. as for your community statement - you are correct - the community hires the leaders whom are educated and experienced to make the "right" judgements and when the "hired" staff are shown to be lacking in this ability they are can expected to be called on their shortcomings (Yesterday | post #1183)

If you want to fact finding it is not hard - just look at the springboro school system sight - look for all the assistant coaches/the number of sports (head/asst coaches)then go to Mason school sights and look and you will see the problem as for the levy look at the facts - the continuing levy is based on millage (as all levies are) so if the (for example 1 one mill levy is renewed (last time) and a new 1 one mill levy is added then you are now paying 2 mills - sounds great huh?? except when it comes for revote a continuation levy sounds good until your see that you are now in for 2 mills instead of one. the system is broke because they can nickel and dime the taxpayer for the same reason that you think you are getting a break for paying $3.05 for a gal. of gas that you were complaining about $2.99 last year at this time. the "what is it doing to me now "view is shortsighted and very costly (Yesterday | post #1174)

Good Morning to all - I found last nights discussions quite interesting - it appears that there are a number of sources of information that will allow any common joe person to make the right determination. Here's the facts that I have presented flat/down sloping student pop with the next 5 year projection. The spending/cost rational as found in several places for the Boro educational system is poor at best. The past record of this BOE and Admin has been shown to be questionable and off-target. Their tactics in resolution of problems can be carved in stone. If the PRO levy people / BOE can show that I am incorrect - we should have seen it before now. Much like the politicos - all we hear is double talk and half truths. here is some food for thought. 123 buses are on the road everyday (before and after levy defeat) if they driven from bus garage to point A everyday (sometimes several times) (forget before/after) what is the BIG savings. I will give you my thought - NOTHING except its easy cut. Remember that when they truck the football team/band/flag corps to 40 miles north for two trips (jv/varsity) - as mature taxpayer I feel that my employees(which the BOE/ADMIN/TEACHING STAFF ARE) should provide me with a 8 hour work day for 8 hour pay (at least that is what my employer expects of me) (Yesterday | post #1167)

I would have to disagree with your second paragraph - The number of students has been flat for the last two years and the projected numbers will hold or drop per the Ohio auditor's office numbers - Please avail your self of the numbers. As for the Results what is the stats that you are basing your opinion on. If you are relying on the State test results - that was discussed a long ago - Springboro teaches to the state test. Not the intent of the test. They hold study help to meet the excellent rating. The students can not make change but they excellent school ratings. The house value issue is only one small view because with all the "work" moving out of the state - your house value will continue to drop (yes maybe not as fast) but drop w/o any base in what the school system is doing. The factors of high taxes is only a part of the problem of your houses value - ask the people moving in from CA - high taxes / wildly blown house values - The problem is quite apparent - If you allow unbrittled spending with out oversight you get the econimic situation you see now. Springboro is dying both in population and work opportunity. I for one need to see someone in power that makes the hard choices and doesn't just toss up their hands and cut buseing - I only ask you to do one thing before you vote - yes / no it doesn't matter to me but do the research as to what is the list of things that you would do to shore up the Schools in order of hardiest to easiest choice much like a company cutting employees - easy choice BIG RETURN The BOE does the easy choice (Tuesday | post #1142)

every point view has 360 degrees - The question for this blog today is Does a BOE member represent you (voter/major pop) OR does today existing members represent some other factor within the community. How many times has a opposing view been tried to be expressed at the BOE meeting from either a BOE member or a citizen with any type of respect being obtained From the board??? again I have sent at least 10 emails to members of BOE - from anyone here - Have your heard any discussion even in an informational situation about them I bet Not!!! excellent points - basically the BOE and Admin spin the numbers to meet their view - as - any one can and the voters have to work to see the negatives - most will not and the numbers are taken at face value. That is exactly what the BOE AND ADMIN want - Just like the "mispresentiv e" comments on the BOE and ADMIN rebuttal on Dons information - If you stand on your head and close one eye you see things their way otherwise you are wrong not them (Friday Oct 10 | post #1040)

Much like the NATIONAL PARTY ADS they don't have specific information on the AD-I would seriously doubt that the state would affirm a small issue's sign discussion. especially if you state there was a disclaimer. (Thursday Oct 9 | post #1001)
