Looking for a home in Punta Gorda-Need Help

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Currently we have no HOA because the development is in default. We pay $1,200 per year on the CDD (bond). There are only four of us who live there and the rest of the houses and condos were never sold. A company from NY came out this week and surveyed and are going to get it all going again by first getting the golf course up and going. Hopefully we will be back in business soon!  (Saturday Dec 5 | post #12)

I agree with your post Duck Fast, but to date Clay County Kentucky has not received national attention or fallen under a "BIG" microscope. They haven't been that important. And to date those folks do pretty much live as they choose. We will let you go to Clay County and "educate " those folks on not having the option of ignoring the law.  (Nov 12, 2009 | post #14)

Lynn, We bought in Tern Bay off of Burnt Store Road (right before you get to the Burst Store Marina). Our neighbor hood is no longer selling or expanding, due to the economy. We saw lots of houses and neighborhoods that we really like the but the HOA's were too much. You aren't nuts at all. A HOA is another monthly payment. We looked in Deep Creek and decided against it because we really didn't like what we saw when we drove around. Our hurricane insurance is 2% of the replacement value of our home.  (Nov 9, 2009 | post #9)

Pursue - I think everyone thought pretty much what you are saying. The guy stumbled upon some illegal action and was killed so he would not report it. I don't know who or why it is being labeled a suicide other than to close the case. I think we should all remember his family when we pray.  (Nov 9, 2009 | post #10)

Born in Rockcastle County, raised in Madison County, lived in Jefferson and Nelson counties and been in Fayette County for three years. Have friends from Hazard, Pikeville, Hindman and Little Leatherwood so I understand Kentucky very well. Whatever the reason this poor man is dead. A needless death for sure. I hope that law enforcement are calling it suicide to just close the case and move on. Justice needs to be served. Have a great day Jim.  (Nov 7, 2009 | post #7)

Dont buy in Punta Gorda

We didn't buy there for the golf course anyway. We got a great deal on a beautiful home, great neighbors and live on a lake where we can dock our plane. When I am there I walk the cart path around the golf course so we are still happy. Would make a great go cart track! LOL Thanks for the info, I will pass that along to the neighbors.  (Oct 2, 2009 | post #105)

Thank you Vinyard. We looked long and hard before we finally purchased a home in FL. I knew we wanted to be on the west side, and have family in Venice as well as Orlando. Temp in Lexington, KY today is 64, sunny but very breezy. It was 46 last night! Brrrrrrrrr  (Oct 1, 2009 | post #103)

Lennar is out and a new company is negotiating to come in and revive the golf course, etc. There are still many finished homes there unsold.  (Oct 1, 2009 | post #101)

We recently bought a beautiful home at a great price in Tern Bay. We love it and can't wait to retire and move there permanently. Tired of the cold Kentucky winters.  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #99)
