Health Care - Chicago, IL

As usual, more Right-Wing garbage. Obviously you can not tolerate the truth. No where in history can I find a reference to a significant number of Republicans in Congress supporting Social Security or Medicare. The only reason the RW pretends to support Medicare now is because they can use this tactic to scare seniors away from supporting ANYTHING the Democratic party proposes. As stated in one of my previous posts, the many RWL scare tactics have so confused the issue of health care reform(as they intended) that a senior, on Medicare, stated in an interview that they did not want the "government " involved in their health care. They want to keep Medicare, but do not make the connection that Medicare is a "government " run, single-payer program with the federal "government " as the sole insurer. Terrifying vulnerable seniors is the perfect example of how low the RW will stoop to further their agenda  (Friday | post #1649)

Careful, you are showing your true failings once again. Anyone that states the DEM's can pass anything they want is lying or extremely stupid. Sadly, it seems you qualify for both terms. Unless someone mis-counted, there are 58 Dem's which does not meet the threshold of 60% to side-step the PARTY OF NO  (Friday | post #1648)

Very good post. The RWL's have so demonized the word "government ", (as per the infamous Newt Gingrich Gopac memos) over the years that ALL RWL's and some anti-government advocates take the position that government can do nothing right. This is total Right-Wing propaganda. Things have gotten so twisted by the Republican party that some seniors are up in arms against the government having anything to do with their health care, while praising Medicare. Medicare is a true Single-payer, government controlled, health care system for seniors. Republicans are extremely good at selling scare tactics and RW propaganda and incapable of doing anything constructive for our low-to-middle income workers/citizens. Always keep in mind that, historically, the Republican agenda has at the top of its list of priorities to kill Social Security and Medicare. SPECIAL NOTE: The Republican party raises the potential insolvency of both programs as a reason to demonize Social Security and Medicare. The Democratic party can heal both programs if the PARTY OF NO would stop their tactic of obstructionism  (Wednesday Dec 30 | post #1618)

Since there is nothing in your post that addresses reality, I will take a stab at commenting on your solution for health care reform. I agree that everyone should live a much healthier lifestyle, but you RWL's would be the first to complain about FORCING our citizens to change. This is taking citizens rights away. A small glimmer of reality is that we currently have millions of citizens that are being punished and/or dying because the cost of health care prohibits them from access to healthcare. A healthy society is a worthy goal, but these citizens can not wait for our society to become healthy. If you are going to tackle the problem of unhealthy lifestyles, then why not undo the hsrm done by the Cheney/bush regime and get people all over the world to love us. One is about as impossible as the other  (Tuesday Dec 29 | post #1576)

I agree with much of your post. However, I would like to add that the current health care reform bills were concocted by CONGRESS at the direction of Big Pharma and health insurance companies. Also, Big Government is not the problem, we MUST have a single-payer system that keeps the current delivery system in place, until it can be streamlined, with the federal government as the sole insurer. MEDICARE FOR ALL, with no health insurance companies involved, would make good health care available to all citizens at an affordable cost. As for paying for the current Medicare system, expanded to cover all citizens, this can be accomplished in short order, with a Democratic majority in Congress, if a simple 51% majority is all that is required to pass ANY legislation. This would bypass the PARTY OF NO and actually get something done that is beneficial to our citizens  (Monday Dec 28 | post #1564)

I see RWL dock is at it again. Two points. The problems with the current health care reform bills are the direct result of a mis-guided attempt to gain support from the PARTY OF NO. (JUST ONE!). Also, your delusional predictions of what will happen if health care reform is enacted, are useless rhetoric with nothing to support this garbage except what has been created in the RWL propaganda machine. As far as your comment that "None of the flaws in the current health care system cannot be fixed for a fraction of the cost of this coming boondoggle" leaves me with a question. If the flaws are so easy/cheap to fix, why didn't the Republicans fix the system when they had total control? They gave us the fiasco Medicare Part D, which rewards the insurance companies and Big Pharma. The Republicans are such hypocrites that they rail against health care reform legislation because it will add to the deficit. The current health care legislation has a means to pay the costs and will actually lower the deficit over 10 years. However, Medicare Part D was supported by these same Republicans knowing the huge costs were added directly to the deficit. In my opinion, the Republicans, as usual, are not interested in helping our citizens, just the rich and powerful  (Sunday Dec 27 | post #1563)

As much as I have critized your posts, obviously I have been giving you way too much credibility. You can take a comment that infers that you can not be in your right mind to believe what you post and you do not understand the intent of the post. At first I thought you could be brainwashed or lying. You have convinced me that you do not have the intellectual capability to engage in a debate. Sad  (Friday Dec 25 | post #1540)

And what is your point? The poor, uneducated in Ky are mostly Republican supporters. They are conned into supporting REP's on religious grounds. Of course, this state being in the Bible Belt, it is easy to understand. They support the GOP on religious grounds even knowing they will suffer economically. Republicans will do nothing to improve the lives of the low-to-middle workers. Historically, the Democratic party has supported unions, Social Security and Medicare while the Republican party has worked against every thing good for the workers  (Friday Dec 25 | post #1538)

More juvenile nonsense. I stated that MANY, MANY citizens of this country take medications to stay alive and some citizens, mostly college students, abuse prescription medications for selfish whims. Also, there are lots of people in this country that are lulled into the quick solution of taking a pill to make their everyday problems more bearable. However, I will state more precisely that a vast majority of medications are absolutely necessay to keep people alive. Another point I made was that the tremendous amount of money Big Pharma spends on advertising their drugs is a huge factor in how many are used by our citizens. Further, you should read my posts with an open mind and not twist every thing to fit the RWL agenda. Another problem with your comment is that I did not say YOU are childish and simple, my comment was that your posts are childish and simplistic in relation to the extremely complex issues dealing with health care reform. What is your problem? Can you not understand the difference or are you just unable to admit you are wrong  (Friday Dec 25 | post #1537)

YOUR logic is flawed. Why can't you admit the fact that EVERYONE will need health care at some point in their lifetime? It is not a choice, but a reality  (Friday Dec 25 | post #1536)

Maybe they will stoop so low as to require liability insurance to drive. Opps, they already do. Wake up. The only reason they are considering a mandate to force everyone to buy ANY insurance is the power and greed of the insurance companies. Remove the insurance companies from the equation and we can have true health care reform. Medicare for everyone  (Tuesday Dec 22 | post #1486)
