No, if you read the article, what's most appalling is Jim Tressell's lack of response or teaching regarding the incident! (Sep 9, 2009 | post #1)
Convenience Store Company and Individual Charged With Retail Ga...
Gas in Antlers tends to cost less than in Hugo, plus customer service tends to be b254etter. Some of the stores in Hugo also have a real problem with clerk's using those tele-check slips to embezzle from accounts - although admittedly that problem is a lot less pervasive than it was a few years ago. 'm not saying you should be happy about being screwed; just that your situation could be even worse. (Sep 9, 2009 | post #12)
Convenience Store Company and Individual Charged With Retail Ga...
Just be happy you don't have to buy your gas in Hugo. We make a point of buying in Antlers, if at all possible, because it's still better than what we have! (Aug 31, 2009 | post #10)
At the top of my page it says "Posted in Boswell forum." You're response may clarify something, however - there are a number of Honey Grove posts which always show up in the Boswell forum. One, in particular, which caused a lot of confusion & consternation was about a school superintendent. Took quite a while for folks to sort out that it wasn't the Boswell superintendent; it was the one from Honey Grove. (May 29, 2009 | post #7)

Genealogy Query - MOORE : WADE
I read your full post on Cousinconnect.com where you mention that he was a full-blood Chickasaw. I don't know why you think he was born around Hugo, but I think you need to broaden your search. As the others have said, Hugo didn't exist in 1860. The nearest "Indian" town would have have been Doaksville, across the creek from Ft. Towson and near the modern town by that name. More importantly, however, all of this area was Choctaw territory. The original Chickasaw capital was in Tishomingo; the modern tribal government is located in Ada. I would extend my search to that area. Good luck. (May 29, 2009 | post #8)
Genealogy Query - MOORE : WADE
It's not exactly a museum, but are you referring to the old Wheelock Academy which is near Wright City? You can get information about it from the Choctaw Nation or the State Historical Society. (May 29, 2009 | post #7)
Sorry to disappoint you, but they are as bad as that Topix makes it seem. Many of those who can afford to pull their children (mainly based on ability to transport to other schools) are doing just that. The powers that be keep trying to foist newer, more expensive schools on the tax-payers thinking that will stop the flight while ignoring the root causes of the problem. Then, they wonder why they're proposals keep getting voted down. (The OK Dep't. of Ed. site used to post the numbers of out-of-district transfers by school district. Have not looked at it for a few years, so I don't know if it's still available.) (May 29, 2009 | post #10)
Police Arrest Dallas Cowboy Rookie At Love Field
He was caught trying to take a throwing star on a plane - all a big mistake, of course. Isn't it good to know that some things never change! (May 23, 2009 | post #1)

Tulsa's Gary Richardson May Run For Governor
The turnpikes & ODOT have very little, if anything to do with each other. ODOT funds the non-turnpike state roads in the State; the Turnpike Authority takes care of the turnpikes with its bonds & pike funds. The system was set up that way on purpose many years ago &, by & large, seems to work. I know its tempting to use Authority funds for other roads, but then we wouldn't have funds to keep the turnpikes up, either. Those of us who live & & travel the rural byways of the State rely on the pikes way too much to want their funds cut. (May 16, 2009 | post #62)
New venue to be called Cowboys Stadium
This is one thing I actually like about the Cowboys. The new-fangled names on most sports venues has just gotten bizarre. Case in point - Mile High Stadium. Some of the venues change their names so often, you don't even know who their talking about. Classy, simple names are best. The teams inside should be enough to sell them. (May 16, 2009 | post #24)
Why is everything about Honey Grove, TX, always posted in the Boswell, OK forum? (May 16, 2009 | post #3)
There is a serious movement afoot among the feds to control guns by controlling the ammunition. They are talking about banning reloading. They are also talking about imprinting ID numbers on individual shells. That way, they will be able to better track who's doing what. Practical answer - Make sure you have a shotgun. Because of the casing type, they can't make an imprint which will survive being shot; the pellets are too small to imprint. More importantly, join the NRA & other, similar organizations, & stand up for you rights as often as possible - not just on gun issues, but also regarding all of the other civil liberties which they are trying to take away. Tulsa's Gary Richardson May Run For Governor
Joe, I nominate you to pay all the tax hikes you're wishing on the rest of us. As for the rest of your post, I don't know what news you're watching, but Oklahoma seems to be doing just fine in this recession. Yes, some businesses are closing, but a number are also opening; it's a classic re-alignment. Every time I go to Tulsa or OKC, I see signs out advertising that people are hiring. __________________ __________________ ________ Re. the original news, lest anyone think I'm pro-Richardson: Watts & Cole are by far the two best choices on that list as far as I'm concerned.
