Culp News-Leader If hunters and anglers formed a corporation, it would be among the nation’s largest companies, ranking No. 11 on the Fortune 500. Sportsmen as a group pour $70 billion annually into the nation’s economy. In Missouri, hunters and anglers spend about $1.4 billion annually, the survey shows. Sportsmen support 22,896 jobs in Missouri. The survey showed that more than 38 million Americans participate in outdoors recreation and support a total of 1.2 million jobs. The number of Americans participating in wildlife activities is up 6 percent since 1991, but the money they’re spending has increased far more. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife survey showed that hunting expenditures are up 29 percent since 1991, while fishing expenditures are up 14 percent, said Sylvia Cabrera, manager of the national survey. • Hunters spent as much money on their special gear each year as Americans spend on Nike shoes and apparel — $4.6 billion. • Each year, hunters spend more than $2 billion for food for hunting trips — more than Americans spend on Domino’s pizza. • The $2.4 billion in annual federal income tax revenue generated by hunters’ spending could cover 200,000 U.S. Army salaries. • Sport fishing generates more in revenues annually than U.S. commercial seafood landings. Sporting anglers generate $36 billion compared to commercial fishing’s $3.7 billion. • More jobs are supported by sport fishing than the number of people employed by General Motors, Ford and Exxon-Mobile. Again you jumped right into a conclusion (based on pre disposed notions) and assumed that all pictures of nude children are lewd! What about the Cherubs on the Sistine chapel? How about that picture your mom adores of you and your cousin in the tub? There is a huge difference between what’s in your family album and what’s found on some perverts hard drive. Artists have been asked to explain every piece of art they have ever made! “What made you paint that? What were you feeling? How long did it take? What does the dog in the corner represent? Who is that song about? What made you want to do this movie? Ask an artist, if they ever get sick of always having to explain their art. Your confusing Sensibilities with Morality . Because J, to some the very food you choose to enjoy could be assumed by some as proof of the racist you really are. Example, you “love fried chicken, watermelon, black eyed peas, red beans & rice, collard greens, pigs feet and poke salad”. You must be from the south and everybody knows that all southerners are really racist deep down, Right? Off topic? I didn’t bring the Watermelon patch into the conversation, you did! As for the morphed picture, as I pointed out in an earlier post, the reason behind it is up to the artist to explain. Did you ever use your “judgement” and ask why the artist put a crucifix in a jar of urine and called it art? No, because it had nothing to do with your pre deposed sensitivity to only certain types of bias. Did you get as offended when you see a picture of former President Bush portrayed in the same morphed fashion? I would guess not. My family history includes lineages including Native American, Irish, and Scottish & German all of which have been portrayed in a negative light at some time or another. So if I follow your example, I guess I should be offended b y something just about every day of my life! I choose not to let the ignorance of the past dictate my future. (Friday Dec 4 | post #423)

No humor was intended, although race & humor have seemed to have gotten along for quite some time. I still remember how hard my dad laughed at Richard Pryors description of White People Making Love. .He didn’t take it personally as a white person,,He got the joke and moved on. You seem to choose to see the world and its many races as things people say they are, every example you gave (Watermelon/ fried chicken is to blacks, as trailer trash is to whites(priest/pedo philia, Italian/mobsters, Jews/greed). is a lesson taught to you by someone with as my mom used to say(” with no home train’n’)..You should choose to ignore all the fairytales and base you trust on your fellow human by their actions, not skin, race, geographic location or food preferences.
