This is so horrible. When a young woman can't even walk down the street at night because of fear to her safety civilization has gone out the window.  (Apr 27, 2009 | post #75)

It's the bums. Who wants to see all these bums laying about? It scares off people who want to take advantage of the breathtaking natural beauty on our shores. But to get to that beauty you have to go through all them bums.  (Apr 26, 2009 | post #14)

CantBustEm writes: Across the street, no... that was removed long before the 1 hour law......and BTW, don't consider bringing your own seating device on your trip downtown (including walking stick seats etc)... It's "ILLEGAL " too. Don't sit. SHOP! Becky's Johnson writes: Exactly!! And if you ask me what they are saying is they only want slim shoppers downtown. Why, I can hardly walk ten feet without becoming winded. It takes alot of energy to move myself around. By eliminating the benches they are saying to people like myself to stay at home. It's a Fat Ban if you ask me. And a Fat Ban is unconstitutional.  (Apr 13, 2009 | post #441)

Fighting trash with an old weapon

PALMSPRINGSBUM SAYS:You know, it just goes to show how unbelievably antisocial anti-smokers are and how provincial this place is that with the unprecedented fire danger you would allow your prejudice against smokers to overrule your caution over fire...to the extent that you'd put ashtrays (and smoking areas) out in the wind. BECKY SAYS: You know, it just goes to show how much of a wuss you are and how entitled you feel. I smoke. I don't need to do it all sheltered away from the elements. I can stand out on the wharf and smoke, I can stand in the rain and smoke, I can sit outside in a field on a hot summer day and smoke. It does not bother me. You're hiding your frail and weak sensibilities behind a veil of caring for the environment. BS. You just don't want to be inconvenienced. It's always your excuse. "If only they would supply me with this, then you wouldn't have to suffer ."  (Feb 5, 2009 | post #84)

Scotts Valley Target proposal shelved indefinitely

Santa Cruz, now is your time to JUMP!!!! Get all those Target people back together and tell them to open one up here, on the west side in one of those dirty lots. The city needs the money. We could use with an expanded customer base. And don't tell that old Katherine Beiers about it. She'll only try and stop it. She hates anything that might actually bring in some income to the city. Tell Tony we'll put in 25% union jobs, that will get his vote. Come on people!! We need this here.  (Feb 5, 2009 | post #61)

Cracking down on downtown

The only problem in having a discussion with you, Robert, is that you think ANY comment made in opposition of your own stance is a personal attack. It's impossible for anyone to have a debate with you, as it will ultimately end up in you calling the other person a bigot, troll, city sympathizer, or any host of names. It's not all about you. It's about the issues. You need to learn how to separate the two.  (Feb 5, 2009 | post #469)
