Surprising (?) Feature Request for Windows 7: "Make Windows Fas...

I installed Ubuntu on my workstation and it does pretty much everything Windows XP does, and does it faster. Made a believer out of me... I'll not be going to the next incarnation of Microsloth Windows.  (16 hrs ago | post #1)

Suit accuses restaurant of giving man big tapeworm

It is possible to be infected with the fish tapeworm, Diphyllobothrium latum, by eating raw freshwater or anadromous fish, such as salmon, that migrate to freshwater to spawn. However, freezing or adequately cooking the fish prevents infection. Most fish used in sushi- and shashimi grade fish have been frozen. Salmon is generally cooked. These puppies can grow up to 15 yards long........ I'd sooner suspect he was fishing in the lake and didn't cook his catch well enough.  (19 hrs ago | post #9)

Taliban Forces Kill 10 French Soldiers and Raid U.S. Base

I agree with the above posts. I will state again, for the umpteenth time, the only way to win a war with insurgents is to simply make it too expensive for them to continue their attacks.  (19 hrs ago | post #4)

Obama: McCain should stop questioning character

When Obama was running for the Illinois senate, he came to our union hall, begging for our local's support in the election, then once he got in Springfield, he sat on his hands in the legislature while the state lost over 100,000 manufacturing jobs. I've been questioning his character ever since.  (19 hrs ago | post #1)

Salmonella outbreak winds down; questions remain

Another article stated that border inspectors have been turning back truck loads of contaminated peppers, basil and cilantro for over a year. Obviously an ongoing problem. Perhaps the best solution is to just ban imports of food products from Mexico and go back to growing our own. I buy local produce when it it available.... cheaper, better tasting and certainly fresher.  (Monday | post #1)

Former Marine decries trial in civilian court

Highlander, you seem to have overlooked one not so minor detail from the article. The Marine unit was taking small arms fire from the house. That makes the occupants enemy combatants, whether they were holding weapons when the house was breached or not. Additionally, simply because one of the participants considered it a crime in after thought, does not in fact make it a crime. In doing job interviews, it has been my experience that people tend to say whatever they think the interviewer wants to hear. I can imagine how much more stressful the interview might be if it is done with a lie detector, which aren't exactly known for their accuracy which is why they are generally not allowed in court. My personal opinion is that this is just another grandstanding attempt to back door our involvement in Iraq and sway public opinion prior to the elections.  (Monday | post #38)

Work begins on $57 million border fence

Apparently you are somewhat unaware of the laws currently on the books. Do a little research and I'm sure you will find it is presently a felony to employ illegals. We don't need more laws, we just need enforcement of the ones on the books now, but like sanctuary cities, those laws are overlooked because it isn't politically correct to enforce them.  (Saturday Aug 16 | post #75)
