2009 OPENING: IKEA moving in, awaits neighbors

I am from NY and have shopped at ikea regularly before I moved to NC 4 years ago. I can't tell you how thrilled I am that it is built and opening next month. Gay is a generalized term really.... when you are "lumping us all together".. lol.. Lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgendered, etc... Lesbians are gay.... but gays are not lesbians, necessarily... and then you throw queer into the mix, and I'm not sure where that fits in... all this labeling is so confusing... There is nothing in me that wants to read the bible and I am glad that I have that choice to make in my life. There was a time in my life when I could have chosen abortion, but for me - I wanted to have the baby. regardless of what path I took - I still believe that women should have the right to choose to have one or not. I do believe in capital punishment as well, and I do think that there are times when both capital punishment and abortions should be carried out if that is what is right for the parties involved. I think it is wonderful that Sarah Palin had her baby. there is no doubt about that, and I give her and her husband tons of credit for knowingly having a child with downs syndrome. It will be a lifelong challenge for that child and I in no way would have done anything differently then she has. However, this is about freedom of choice.. she chose to have that baby and I honor that. I wouldn't want to take the right away from her to choose.. Without knowing me - you don't really know of my character. Instead of throwing hurtful words out there about it - try listening without judgement.  (Sep 7, 2008 | post #1350)

No - I can assure you that although they love life, they still think that a woman has the right to choose AND that government should stay out of it as well. They do support adoption as well. The republicans don't have good plans for the economy, health care or education - I have not heard much detail from them on these topics... THe RNC was mostly about showing Biography's and had little substance. It is business as usual for the Republicans and who knows when it will stop. As far as family life being fair game - I almost agree with this statement. There is a limit to what one should drag children thru in the media. As a lesbian Mother, I have been to a few gay pride parades and events. There are a few people in all cultures who are extreme and will take things to the limit. gay or straight or any racial group imaginable. In all of the parades and events I have been to, I have never seen sexual acts being done, or flaunting of exposed body parts that weren't covered by clothing. I have found some people to be inappropriate, but more people who aren't. Just as there are people who are heterosexual who make poor choices for themselves, there are also Gays and Lesbians who do the same thing. We are human beings, just as you are, and to say that an entire body of people is inappropriate because of a few that give us a bad name is not fair or right. Also - about the Folsom Street Festival... This is a festival for leather/fetish enthusiasts during San Francisco's Leather Week. There are people of all types that go here. Straight, Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans, Married, Single, partnered, etc. it is not only geared for the GLBT community. This festival is also gated off so people know going in that there is adult content - as they are told.  (Sep 3, 2008 | post #43)

if the bus driver was doing her job, he wouldn't have been allowed on the bus. Thankfully, this was not a person who caused harm, so she should consider herself lucky that she is just got suspended and isn't charged with something more fierce...
