Curiosity (and the animal shelter) are killing the cat...
When naysayers (city or county officials or shelter staff or citizens) say it can't be done....don't you believe it! When there's a will, there's a way! We must educate the community about the FACTS of going no-kill! Sometimes having NO EXPERIENCE in the shelter world is what is needed to bring about positive creative change. Actually, Mr. Swancy and I went toe to toe (verbally) over the shelter. He reluctantly agreed to watch the Nathan Winograd video I showed him. After watching the video he became more open to the concept. I cannot find wrongdoing in a person who was uneducated on a topic that decided to become educated and then changed their opinion. Now, I can promise you this- our group has not forgotten the words and actions (or lack thereof) of any member of the City Council. We will hold them accountable for any past or present actions. If they are changing their opinions we welcome their support. People (even politicians) are allowed to change their beliefs after learning new information. I welcome YOU to learn some new education too. I don't have the link handy- but go to YouTube and search Nathan Winograd. Watch the 28:00 video. You will learn valuable information. Educate yourselves. (Apr 29, 2012 | post #9)
I've posted on here, several times, the link to Nathan Winograd. Have you listened or read anything he's said?? He explains how to do it and that it can be done. He reformed the San Francisco shelter for goodness sakes! Not to mention hundreds of shelters since then. "The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you dont know anything about." I hope and pray each of these ya-hoos gets booted from office. City Council needs to have deep "house cleaning." The City manager needs to go to. That's the ONLY chance many facits of Weatherford have of changing. (Apr 10, 2012 | post #2)

Who are you talking about? (Apr 10, 2012 | post #16)
If you are interested in the grassroots effort being made to fix the issues at the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter please add Help Weatherford Animal Shelter Pets to your Facebook page or check out the newly constructed www.nokillweatherf ord.webs.com website. Most importantly remember what elected officials are allowing these things to happen under their watch and DON'T elect them again!!!! (Mar 18, 2012 | post #2)
Mike Burns Palo Pinto District Attorney
I would like all my Palo Pinto County friends to consider voting for a dear friend of mine for District Attorney. Her name is Kriste Burnett. She is a former Assistant DA of Palo Pinto Co. You will probably see some write ups or hear about a lawsuit against Kriste. This lawsuit claims Kriste does not have residence in PPC. This lawsuit has been brought forth by Michael Burns. He is the incumbent DA for PPC. He wants to run unopposed for his position. This lawsuit is ridiculous and Kriste IS being allowed to be on the ballot. Kriste is a hard working woman who wants to make some positive changes for the entire county. I, for one, am tired of living in a county where the criminals don't seem to be punished nearly enough. Kriste will make these changes. Please consider her for District Attorney so that Palo Pinto County will be a safer place to raise our families. Please feel free to pass this along. Curiosity (and the animal shelter) are killing the cat...
Who has read the March 2012 Parker County Today magazine article about the animal shelter? What does the public think about this article and what all was revealed? What were your first impressions. Just curious... (Mar 8, 2012 | post #1)
Please be sure to read the March issue of the Parker County Today magazine. There is a very large article about the shelter. It will (or should) OUTRAGE you as a taxpayer! Please go to Help Weatherford Shelter Pets on Facebook, too. This is a page dedicated to reforming the shelter and informing the public about the issues facing the shelter. (Mar 7, 2012 | post #6)
They don't adopt the pitbulls out so YES they were all EU'd. This is a common practice there. The only reason that specific date was posted was because those EU dates are typically kept quiet. We just happened to get word of a Pitbull kill date this time and notified the public. the shelter, despite repeated requests- still refuses to allow pitbulls to be pulled by approved 501c3 rescues.
