Letters: Misconceptions about global warming

Wish I could have been there to see the look on his face when you explained waves of energy canceling each other. Even hard-core deniers like Christopher Monckton aren't as clueless as Gord. "Solar ovens working at night"? If you put a 100-watt light bulb in 10 feet in front of a solar oven, does the fact that the oven doesn't "produce heating" mean that the bulb isn't? Try grabbing a hold of it Gord. What a "hoot".  (Oct 20, 2009 | post #191)

Letters: Misconceptions about global warming

It was Earthling's link Scott was referring to. Don't read well do you Gord? Believe me yet Scott. Gord is just here to waist our time.  (Oct 18, 2009 | post #183)

Worth repeating! It's true of Brian too.  (Oct 14, 2009 | post #137)

This Obama Recession..." Brian is just proving he's either a pea-brained-dido-h ead with a two second memory, or just willing to say anything he thinks will advance his agenda.  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #2648)

What is your view of global warming?

But on this one you missed the point completely again. When I said: The formation of the Earth may have been about 4 Billion years ago, but the "Big Bang" was maybe four times that long ago (although Brian will not believe either because there have been no "experiments done" to prove it). In any case the Earth has been changing since it formed but that doesn't mean man can't change it too. We have directly caused the pollution of great rivers (and sometimes reversed it), have caused extinctions and near extinctions (reversed some near extinctions), have created gigantic lakes and caused others to dry up, have thinned the Ozone layer and caused a "hole" in it and reversed that trend (if not completely reversing the thinning). We have deforested large areas of Europe and America and reforested some of them. We will never be able to protect ourselves from all natural disasters, but we have shown that we can protect ourselves (and our children) from some of the disasters we bring on ourselves. Man-made GW is real, even if Brian and Tina want to pretend they think otherwise. What we need to do is not tampering with Nature, just take reasonable measures to stop what we are doing to cause this new man-made catastrophe. Don't you people read newspapers? ...Other than your fixed denial of Man-made GW, just what are you disagreeing with?  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #2646)

What is your view of global warming?

This one for instance, When Raptor in Michigan wrote: "There is a difference between polluting and polluting. One we can't really avoid. We need to drive cars and travel and use heat and electric, etc. That kind of polluting we can't avoid. (No matter who contradicts that.)" Why can't other deniers distinguish between needs and wants  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #2644)

You seem to have missed the point of what I wrote. Maybe you could go back and read it again. Still, despite missing the point, your post makes more sense than any of the others in the last five posts. It is beside the point and has nothing to do with global warming, but still worth noting. When I look at some of your other posts, I have to wonder if it doesn't embarrass you sometimes to be a denier when you read some of the things your fellow deniers post.  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #2643)

What is your view of global warming?

In the Asian, African and Latin American countries, well over 500 million people are living in what the World Bank has called "absolute poverty" Every year 15 million children die of hunger. http://library.thi nkquest.org/C00229 1/high/present/sta ts.htm You are wrong about proof for AGW too.  (Sep 29, 2009 | post #2637)

What is your view of global warming?

You are right for once! "It" can't in fact be "any more true". It was completely true the first time. Here it is again in case anyone missed it: Global temperatures rose a similar amount once before since there were what we would call human beings on the earth. That time it took about Five Thousand Years. This time the prediction is for about 200 years. That's the big difference. The earth won't "die" and nature will adjust. The human race will adjust too, but since we are already using the resources available, near their limits (with much of the population already living miserable desperate lives) "adjusting " will not be pretty. And yes we will become extinct someday, but isn't it kind of stupid to hurry that day along?  (Sep 18, 2009 | post #2592)
