Thank You Zydeco!!!!!!!! To be honest I am surprised he hasn't gotten me back for admitting I am half french!!!! (louisianna french) however.....WOULDN 'T HE BE EVEN MORE SURPISED.....the other half of my family is IRISH!!!!!!!!!! I think he is prejudice, racist, and a bigot! He said he is not here to entertain us...but guess what!!!! He cracks up every one of my funny bones!!! I roll in the floor laughing at him....I share his bigot opines with peeps here and they laugh at him equally as hard if not more!!!!! My husband[a military man with an engineering degree in communications] thinks it is great that I have something ENTERTAINING TO DO while he is at work. My husband would rather me pick on LifeCoach than hang out in a chat room trying to cheat [his ex did that to a sickness]. ****THANK YOU LIFECOACH......I don't have to spend money going to a comedy club!!!!!!! I hate that someone said that to you....gives a bad reflection/ especially since most of us don't feel that way at all. As for the teachings at the visitor center....I don't doubt that they have scripted presentations depicting the memories of how the war was then and I am sure you might have had a tour guide either too young to know or too old to be open minded. HOWEVER, the whole population of Ga shouldn't be blamed or judged. The thing about traveling is that you get the demographic versions of history. I am sure if I returned to New York or Virginia or Philadelphia and toured ANY historic land mark that the tour guides would depict the events of the area at the time history was made. They didn't just decide that they were gonna bash a group because the tourist weren't from here. Heck, common logic says tourist are from ELSEWHERE. I just don't ever hear people down here complain about it. I don't think people worry about a hundred years or more ago. People here are concerned for the FUTURE. People living in and around the city and Metro Atlanta area are very suburban not rural. Kennesaw is more country than where I live and where I live is quite lively, very busy and always hoppin', near [3miles from] the 2nd largest recreational lake in the country[Lanier]. Lake brats tend to be very light hearted, easy going and well dare I say "love to party"...we work hard...don't get me wrong. Gas in these boats gets expensive. I live in an old house[70yrs] but I CHOSE it and it is 5 minutes from way~2~much traffic. I hear fire trucks and police cars daily like any other city. Our stress relief is boating and biking. Nothing like a great motorcycle ride on a sunny day up into the Great Smokey Mountains. I have lived around Atlanta for over 50 years and represent this community with pride, but I also know my community is proud of me. I represent the way we are here....supporting charities and needs within our community......so you should visit again! Or at least realize....you could have a friend in me  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #21)

High hopes and prayers for Millen's struggling economy.

Just to let you know we care up here! I have many fond memories of Millen over 30 years. Millen has my beautiful grand daughter. I pray everyday for Millen to recover through these hard times so that my baby has the same chances that would be available to any other child. That my son and other young men like him are able to support their young families. Keep the faith and I promise to hold Millen up in prayer. Don't give up and neither will I. Death of a Small Town

Nan, THANK YOU for your post. I worry about Millen all the time. I remember 30 years ago when Jockey was still opened! Though not from there, my boys father is, and my eldest son and my grand daughter live there now. Dan is from there as are my grand daughter's other "mee-maw " and her entire family. I would like it very much if you will let me chat/thread with you at times because I know my son won't ever worry me with any news or emergencies. All my other kids live in other states in thriving towns and my husbands grown kids and grand kids live elsewhere also. He and I get a little short changed on visits with today's economy. I mean no intrusion...just need some maw-maw support. Again thank you for the encouraging post.
