Jehovah's Witness

Is the new world translation full of errors

There are two published sources that identify the members of the NWT translating committee, Nange; Raymond Franz's Crisis of Conscience and William Cetnar's Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses. Cetnar served at the JW headquarters in the 1950s while the NWT committee was working on the JW Bible. It was no secret at Watchtower Vatican as to who the NWT committee members were, Fred Franz, Nate Knorr, Al Schroeder, George Gangas, and Milt Henschel. The identity of the NWTC was also verified for me by another JW who was also living at Watchtower Vatican at the same time as Bill Cetnar. He said that the reason behind the secrecy was because nobody on the NWT committee was qualified to translate the Bible from the original languages. You will find this post on another forum helpful regarding the creation of the NWT. R U studying with the Jehovah's Witnesses?

Good observation, Jace. Or he could be a JW pretending to be an interested party.  (Apr 28, 2013 | post #11)

Some gated communities in PR are wrestling with courts or...

Then the Watchtower Co. should furnish the PR JWs with proper identification indicating that the person bearing such ID does indeed represent the Watchtower and that the Watchtower is responsible for any misdeeds committed by the JWs during their visit to said gated community.  (Apr 28, 2013 | post #18)

Evil Slave

Interesting observation, red blood relative. However, something that I've noticed about many of the JWs is that they don't like to think for themselves. They prefer someone else to make decisions regarding what to believe. That's why the JWs accept without question whatever their GB tells them.  (Apr 23, 2013 | post #10)

Mary Magdalene and Jesus

Rabbis of all branches of Judaism are required to marry and have at least two children. Regarding Jesus' marriage in the NT, you might find this site interesting: http://truth-out.o rg/news/item/11993 -was-jesus-married -a-religion-schola r-decodes-the-clue s  (Apr 7, 2013 | post #18)

Here's an interesting discussion of the NWT from another forum. Note the last comment on page 1 as to how the NWT was put together: http://www.jehovah s-witness.net/watc htower/bible/20698 1/1/Translating-th e-NWT-in-the-Shado ws  (Apr 7, 2013 | post #49)

Day After Pit Bull Attack: Women's Conditions Upgraded, L...

If you're really that into JWism, Snorky, why are you wasting your time here on a forum with non and exJWs complaining about your disabilities? Shouldn't you be attending your JW meeting hall and distributing Watchtowers door to door? According to your reasoning if you spent the time that you waste on forums like this going door to door with the JW message you'd have converted dozens, perhaps hundreds of persons to JWism.  (Apr 7, 2013 | post #26)

Mary Magdalene and Jesus

There are hints in the NT that Jesus was married. The wedding feast in Cana was probably his. Why would a guest to a wedding be required to furnish the wine? He was also called Rabbi, requiring him to have a wife. There is circumstantial evidence in the Apocryphal NT that Jesus and Mary M were married.  (Apr 7, 2013 | post #16)

Mary Magdalene and Jesus

Mary Magdalene was probably Jesus' wife. That's why they had a close relationship.  (Apr 6, 2013 | post #12)

Day After Pit Bull Attack: Women's Conditions Upgraded, L...

There are safer and more effective methods of getting your message out to the people than the door to door canvasing of the JWs. It is sad that the JW hierarchy compels the rank and file to participate in this ineffective ritual.  (Apr 3, 2013 | post #20)

Jehovah's Witness

doctrines of demons

Not sure how much you know about Johannes Greber, Ihveit, but many of the doctrines that he believed in are the same ones the JWs promote. Greber was an admitted spiritualist and at a seance that he participated in back in 1923 he asked the spirit world to enlighten him regarding the person of Christ. Greber record's the "spirit's " answer in his book COMMUNICATION WITH THE SPIRIT WORLD OF GOD, page 301: "At that time you were told that Christ is the highest of the spirits created by God and the sole one to be created directly: that the rest of the spirit-world came into being through Christ, and, together with Him, formed a great spiritual community or kingdom with Christ as its Head, as God had willed. In this kingdom Christ was therefore in a sense God's viceroy. Christ himself was not God, but only the first of God's sons, and owed His power, and His Glory and His kingdom to God." Sound familiar? The 1982 Watchtower book, YOU CAN LIVE FOREVER IN PARADISE ON EARTH, page 58, says basically the same thing: "Before coming to earth, Jesus was called the Word of God. This title shows that he served in heaven as the one who spoke for God. He is also called God's 'Firstborn,' as well as his 'only-begotten' Son. This means that he was created before all the other spirit sons of God." Strange how the JWs condemn Greber's beliefs as the doctrines of demons, yet surprisingly believe the same things he does.  (Jan 6, 2013 | post #44)

Catholic convert

That is a serious flaw with the JW religion, in that they want you to cut off communication with your non-JW family. My recommendation is that you honestly make a list of what you consider to be flaws in the Catholic Church and then list the flaws in the JW religion. Then read the Bible by itself without Catholic or JW commentaries. Let the Scriptures speak for themselves. I don't think you would buy a car off a used car lot just on the recommendation of the salesperson. Instead you would consult the previous owner for his or her opinion. Also helpful would be Consumer Reports. The same advice applies to joining a new religion. The JWs will only tell you how great the religion is. But the fact that there are more exJWs than practicing JWs should be a warning to you.  (Jan 4, 2013 | post #17)

I doubt Gareth will give you an honest answer, Jace. Most likely he/she will ignore this thread.  (Jan 4, 2013 | post #4)
