I would also like to say that I am upset about the attach on myself and Brian, I have never been fired from a law enforcemnt position in my life I have given 100% to my Family friends and community..... I ask you do you want expierence dedication and commitment? Or is it that the people want to still be protected by the same good ole boy politics in the Sheriffs office as we have so well maintained for the last 30 plus years... I have raised here and my family goes back since the 1830's and I feel that the people who are not my relatives are my extended family and I want the best for my children and family as well as yours. As matter of fact this is my first time on the Salem sight, DUMB. And I does take a person with management skills and may I also say that I have been a buisness owner myself and a Fire Chief for many years, as well as an officer with plenty of expierence as far as sound judgement as to whom I may hire or not hire...take a look at the residing sheriffs taste in officers,and yes Dennie is a good man that I hold in high regard as a person, always have, but you need to stop and take a look at all of the candidates records as far as commitment to the county what have they done to accomplish a weighing factor as to fullfilling thier obligation to the residence. As far as I, go I have been volunteering for many tasks that take alot of my time without asking for pay. The compensation that has been rewarded to me by the people of Fulton County you can not set a price to. And whether I am elected or not I will conyinue to serve my county in every aspect that I am able to full fill, anyone who knows me will tell you the same. I would like to ask for your support and lets put law enforcement back into the hands of the people of Fulton County and not just a few, I as a tax paying citizen deserve equal law enforcement as does everyone of you and my pledge to you is there will be equal law enforcement coverage, and a Sheriffs office that you can count on trust and not be an embarrisment to ourselves and the surrounding areas.. I am going to resolve some issues that seems to be concerning some of you. one: you are correct Iwas not terminated I resigned my post with the former chief deputy James Laney, not because of a cow either.... the cow incident was rather embarrising at best but I had another certified officer with me after following up on a theft investigation in another Izard county(with walters consent) I followed all protocals contacted State and Izard County citations were issued and thier insurance covered. two: my resignation was printed in the local paper (Area Wide Media) and explained my regrets, but also my explination .Which was I felt that I could better represent my county and community better outside the Sheriffs department under the current sheriff. Nowing full well that I would be expected to run for Sheriff because of the concers of people like yourselves. I am very passionate about my county and the residence and I am not going to sit here and ride the fence, on issues if you want o know just ask there are so many but I have a solution and surround myself with friends like Mike,Jamie Jaremy and others who have alot of expireence and loyality to thier communities and if I dont have the answer they will you just have to know where to look. None of the candidates have all the answers to all the problems there is just to many and if any of them say that they do, then we must have met the second coming. I have several proven plans that work one is to have officers assigned in diffrent areas of the county, and yes one in Mammoth I already have volunteer!!!! One in the Saddle 9 mile ridge area, Camp Agnos Glencoe Heart, Morriston area. Byron, Viola area, and the Gepp, Elizabeth, Vidette areas. By doing this it solves many problems the area of the river will be all but constantly patrolled residential and buisness, and by three deputies at diffrent intervals and then they also have back up. I would like to impliment more reserves but that is a monitary concern that has to be approved by budgeting with th Quorum court. Yes I know that Fulton County dosent have alot of revenue but most of the reserves have volunteerd to work for me but the situation is Workmans Comp. These Duputies that are assigned to these areas will get to know thier residence and the problems in thier assigned areas, and ideally I would like to have township meetings with the deputies and residence in those areas to address those problems.Now you must realize that the problems in the Mammoth area is going to be some but not all the same problems in diffrent areas such as Gepp, Camp, Corner Town, so on and so forth. Like I said I have alot of plans for our county, and alot of hope and respect for the office and the residence. I would like to see that you all come out and vote and support me, but for gods sake lets not have law enforcement run like it has been for the last 40 years.....Its time for a diffrence and a change its time for new blood, its time for the people of Fulton County to care by making thier voices heard and stop using the same old addage that "It dosent matter who we vote for thier going to elect who they want anyway...." Not if we all stand up and let the people know that the last time we remember this is still a democracy and not a dictatorship.....W e may not have alot but we do have our honor and we have our pride in Family,God,and Country, they make take away alot of things but they wont take away our freedom of speech. Friends lets face it it has always been my opinion that the county dosent revolve around the city of Salem and there is alot more of us out here than there is there is there. I have had a working relationship as an officer and a concerned citizen with the camp owners and some of the residence, alot of the owners know me and the effort that I put into my work. As an officer not only did I patrol the campgrounds on a regular basis during peek season and non peak seasons but stopped and visited with other property owners and they felt like I do that being seen is 90% of being able combat crime of all sorts on the river. Like I said I spent alot of time patroling each campsite, and the residing Sheriff told me himself that its not our responsibility to spend alot of time down there and to let the campgrounds take care of thier own problems. Some of the owners even had my personel telephone number so that in the event that thier security officers could not handle a situation they gave me a call no matter what time of day or night, and they would not have called unless it was something they couldnt handle. Well its our river and its all our problem and I took his statement personally.YEs I probobally should have listened to my superior officer, but this is my County as well as all of yours and my tax money any yours deserve the same law enforcement protection as Salem, Mammoth, Viola, Gepp, Vidette, Morriston, Glencoe etc. I was raised on a farm in Camp and spent alot of my time up and down the spring river and south fork. It really hurts me to see what has become of it. Now recreation is great but law enforcement must be applied in its state. I dont know who attacked Brian but I take offense to anyone attacking a friend of mine...... As to any comments to commitment to our community, I have been and still am a very committed to our county, I am a husband and father of four and my oldest graduates in the spring, I am a fire chief, president of the firefighters assn., little league ball coach,lobbied for our fire depts funding, and alot more but let me say that all the soap box speaches arent going to do alot of good if we just talk about the problems, I have several programs to implement that I have at my disposal but if any of the candidates want to tell you that they are going to work miracles then the first thing they have done is mislead you. You first have to have a plan and then support from the community, Quorum court, school boards and city councils, now with that said, my plans are workable, and as far as the river and camp ground patrols goes I have worked the river as a county deputy and I know what works and it is a time proven skill that has been refined through hand on communication with the public and campground owners that appreciated a person with a level head and expierence to combat any one of numerous problems. As far as revenue approximately 25% of the revenue is generated through tax dollars in Fulton County from either tourist or from people that dont even live here,I have a commitment to the county and yes it is a bit personal, my family since the 1830s has found it fit to raise thier families, and farm this country, and if it was good enough for them than it is sure good enough for me, I have also felt that the rest of the residents of Fulton County as extended family in one way or another,and as your sheriff I will do my best to protect and defend as it was one of my own.
