She was quite nice. I went there today on everyone's recommendation. Course you all should mention she takes CASH ONLY UPFRONT! Course when I mentioned my bank was down the street and I could run and get more money while she wrote it up, she actually offered to take a deposit on Tuesday because that's the first day she could go buy the liner anyway. We were having a very expensive older leather jacket relined ($150! yikes, but worth it if it's good), and I never carry that kind of cash around. Well we had two other coats (one needed a zipper, one had a hole at the seam) too, and she said if we were coming back today anyway to bring the rest of the cash she would have them both done for us today. So we were gone 2.5 hours or so doing our grocery and misc. shopping, and sure enough. We got back and two coats were done. She did fantastic work too. Couldn't even see where she fixed the seam. Nice job and SUPER nice lady. Just remember....CASH ONLY UPFRONT! :) (Saturday | post #7)
Well we were going to get it all done today, but the hubby actually made it harder than when I did it myself! After rearranging my new staked lights FOUR TIMES at his request(bought on clearance end of season last year), I was about to wring his neck. Finally he says to move my holiday greeting sign over to the other side and he'll take me to buy more to offset the difference. Well 90 minutes later we get home and have a hard time with the new lights HE picked out so tomorrow I get to go back and return them for ones like what I wanted in the first place! :D But all that said, we are halfway there, and after the gym tomorrow with dad I'll get right on the rest! Tell me about your friendly neighbors
Well assuming you're serious.... My next door neighbors brought us a plate of desserts they'd made the first Christmas we were here. We'd moved in on about 12/5, and they welcomed us with pastries. Granted they didn't know our particular dietary needs, but it was a wonderful gesture. The husband helped my husband install a garage door opener a few years later. We played with their dogs, they with ours. Sadly they put up a big privacy fence so we don't get to talk over the fence unless we want it akin to "Wilson" on "Home Improvement," but we still talk. They patronized our first garage sale, and they've lent us tools while my husband started building his collection. Unfortunately since the husband is far more handy than we are, there hasn't been a whole lot we've been able to do for them, but they are wonderful people that we are proud to call neighbors. We even invited them to our wedding a few years ago. (Saturday Dec 5 | post #3)

Winterpeaches you slay me. :) Eastsiders unite! (Thursday Dec 3 | post #13)
I forgot about Bobby's C. They fixed my mom's car years ago after an accident my sister got in (stay off the roads when she's around! haha). I can definitely say I can no longer recommend our fair Merlins though. Oh no way. But I'll have to think about Bobby C's the next time I need work done. (Thursday Dec 3 | post #8)
Gotta give them too much info if you ask me, but you got my vote. Good luck. (Thursday Dec 3 | post #2)
I might just have time to do that tomorrow now that I'm not babysitting again. But if not, the hubby has next week off so you KNOW he'll be helping either watch the kid or put up the lights! (Thursday Dec 3 | post #5)
Many of you posters need to take a chill pill
Don't forget vulgarity too. That's PERFECTLY acceptable because it's "free speech." </end sarcasm> (Thursday Dec 3 | post #12)

Hi New, Stick around long enough, and you start to see the dynamics and how what may appear as friendly sarcasm isn't always what it seems. :) (Monday Nov 30 | post #3)
Should Midlothian install red light cameras at 147th & Cicero
I can attest to what midlo vet points out. Where I grew up (not us) everyone left their back doors unlocked, cars unlocked, garages unlocked. My dad had a lot of expensive tools so he locked everything up, but these people (my former neighbors in a small town) just grew up in a different way of life. Neighborhood kids just strolled in and had milk and cookies with their friends. Neighbors just came in to borrow the sugar. Some people to this day leave their car running in the driveway when they forget something and need to run back inside or don't want to wait in a cold car whilst it warms up. It may seem stupid, but my dad still has to tell his stepkids to lock doors. Some people just need to be told (sometimes repeatedly). (Monday Nov 30 | post #26)
This just killed my buzz. I lost my dog (my avatar) just two months ago. Her "brother " is not the same without her. He's a shell of his former self, and I know how he feels. She was with me near 14 years. So to hear this story makes me more angry than anything. And Just Wondering I envy you. My uncle was the same way where he could take his dogs out off a leash and not worry, but all my dogs tend to like to run off if given the chance. Mind you, if I couldn't catch my old girl first she would always come home after visiting her other doggie friends around the house, but usually I'd catch her first and fairly quickly. Until she was much older I could never trust her without a leash. In fact, she once got a ticket for a "wandering dog" it said. I know she's a dog, but I used to tease her about that. Haha. I was only a kid myself at the time when we got her. I was 15 or so, and she was a good little doggie. (Sunday Nov 29 | post #20)
The O F Ace Hardware is closing up
WW1 that's very interesting. I'll have to tell the hubby because he also thought we lost another one to the big box. (Wednesday Nov 25 | post #23)
The O F Ace Hardware is closing up
Midlo Res we shopped at Ebels Ace and Grills TruValue. Grills is still open on 147th just East of Cicero. I was in Ace and planned on going there today too. Their prices are still high even with discounts for closing. They just never could compete with the big boxes, but we went there when we had little emergencies at the house and wanted somewhere close. Hubby went there more than a few times in the last 2 months for this or that random items that he'd rather pay a little more for the proximity. (Sunday Nov 22 | post #3)
