Sources: Davis is prepared to fire Kiffin before season's end

My sentiments exactly. And it might be better if the Raiders would throw a bone to the press, give them something to print, so they wouldn't have to rehash the same ol' story again and again.  (Sep 16, 2008 | post #26)

Rob Ryan: Blame me, not Raiders owner

Except me. I need a program to tell them apart. There's a R.M. from AOL, from Texas, from Mexico and one of them is even registered, if I remember correctly. And somebody told me the real R.M. is in Iraq, so I can't tell which is which.  (Sep 13, 2008 | post #9)

Rob Ryan: Blame me, not Raiders owner

I like that from Ryan. But, is it accurate? I didn't see any pressure on Cutler. I'm guessing that's a lack of talent on the D-line. Just guessing. The D-backs can learn to work together, just as on offense, the receivers and Russell can learn to get it in sinc. I question whether there is more 'upside' going forward with this D-line.  (Sep 11, 2008 | post #2)

Ellis has some explaining to do to Warriors

Good work, Mullins. (I've been a Mullins fan since he was in college.) Now, you've managed to alienate your best player. He's got a sprained ankle, why not embarrass him in front of the entire world? That'll do a lot of good (humor). The handling of this incident is as bright as running head first into a tree. I suspect some some kind of evil fungus in the water cooler at Warriors headquarters that rots the brain. At the very least, the problem could have been resolved without it being dragged out in the press. Who would want to play for the Warriors with this kind of management? If the story isn't true, and the sources have not been named, then make that public. This is a perfect example of how not to handle a problem. And BTW- there's a rat in your organization that snitches to the press, that ought to add to the confidence. Meltdown city.  (Sep 7, 2008 | post #9)

Former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper retires

Give most QBs a leaking front line and he'll look washed up. When QBs have a good year, the names of the front line are unknown, unless they have penalties. This is the fault, mostly, of the press. Is it because the press is ignorant? Or are they just making it simple for the fans that they have a deep contempt for. Look at the presidential races on the political scene. Same thing. The press ignores the important issues of the day to focus on the hairdo of the VP candidate and how well the last speech went, etc ad nauseum. That same press will propagate the lie that presidents have everything to do with economies. Unsung are the workers and their productivity & education, management, board of directors, investors, entrepreneurs, the financial sector, the regulatory agencies, infrastructure, and technological advances. There are many pieces to a puzzle. If you get a football team where all the pieces fit together, then you get your great QBs.  (Sep 6, 2008 | post #14)

Ellis has some explaining to do to Warriors

The assumption being that the scrapes happened at the same time of the turned ankle. Let's approach this from some kind of extreme possibility. What could he have been doing that caused him to sprain his ankle, that would require an investigation? Who the heck cares one way or another? He sprained his ankle and he's out until January. What are the Warriors going to do if they find he wasn't playing basketball while he sprained his ankle. Let's assume he was doing something he didn't want the world to know about. How does that make anything different? What should the Warriors do, cut him? That would really teach him a lesson. Meanwhile, the Warriors could save a lot of money, but at the same time they would lose fans and revenue. I just don't understand the motivation behind an investigation. Players of his caliber don't just grow on trees. If the Warriors are indeed investigating, and I'm not all that certain they are, what do they stand to gain from it besides producing a disgruntled franchise player?  (Sep 4, 2008 | post #4)

I don't believe the story. What sources? And what exactly is the issue? Do you think that basketball players aren't allowed to practice their game in the off season? It looks like more of a case that the media has nothing to write about, and that makes it hard to get those paychecks. They don't get paid for not writing stories.  (Sep 3, 2008 | post #2)

Offseason full of turmoil for Raiders

Sportswriters: they have nothing to write about. They try to amplify any hearsay that might leak out of the Raider's headquarters, and tell us that it's the truth. From my lifetime of working for different companies and in different crews, grown men have differences and sometime argue. I don't expect anything different out of the NFL. Of course Kiffin wants full control. I would respect a head coach otherwise. Of course Davis won't give him full control. Kiffin has been in the league one season. And the other great big distraction? A player got drunk and mugged. Not exactly the apocolypse.  (Aug 31, 2008 | post #15)

Traitors"? WTF does that mean? The past is nice, but really, I'm interested in this up coming season. When you're team is losing a game, it don't salve the wounds to talk about Super Bowl victories that happened a generation ago.  (Aug 31, 2008 | post #14)

Warriors wonder about Ellis' ankle injury

The article is searching desperately for a story. Can't play ball in the off season? That's new. I don't remember the article telling us about him bragging at all. That came from you. It tells us something about you. Now I'm wondering what you think you know about the average NBA "playa". ..  (Aug 31, 2008 | post #2)

Oakland Raiders

Offseason full of turmoil for Raiders

Ball control and time of possession, due to the Raider's strong ground game, will keep our defense fresh into the 4th quarter. It was in the 4th quarter that the Raiders were beat last year. The revolving merry-go-round of QBs last season was part of the problem with false starts. I think Russell will stay healthy, since he's young, big and relatively mobile. If we have to open another can of QBs, Walter'll enjoy better protection than he's ever had. Backfields on both the O and D are improved. The OL blocking scheme is promising because of it's 2nd consecutive season.  (Aug 30, 2008 | post #2)
