AIIMS recruitment irregularities under CBI scanner

The CBI is set to begin a probe into alleged irregularities in the appointment of some of the 90-odd faculty members done by the central government in 2013 for six new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences coming up in six cities. The CBI is examining the irregularities after receiving a reference from the ministry of health and family welfare and a complaint from the Central Vigilance Commission , said an agency source.

Primary care to expand with federal funds

As the country struggles with a shortage of primary care doctors, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday that it would give $13.4 million to 48 health centers in Florida to expand primary care services. The grants, established by the Affordable Care Act, will pay the salaries of about 215 health workers statewide and enable health centers to stay open longer, as well as to expand care in dentistry, mental health and ophthalmology, HHS said in a statement.
