AEDs and alcohol dont mix.I was diagnosed 28yrs ago as being epileptic and was given high doses of AEDs.Five years ago i was diagnosed alcohol dependent/Epileptic.Two years ago i recieved another EEG and was told i was not epileptic.So i ran my own experiments.I remained seizure free for a hole year by stopping my AEDs and using alcohol as a alternitive medication.I have now stopped drinking and am takeing small amounts of epillim,Still seizure free.
All my life i was suffering from alcohol withdraw seizures but was convinced not only by myself,But by specialists that i was epileptic.But the scariest thing of all is that of all the thousands of people in this country diagnosed epileptic, Only 30%are diagnosed proper epileptic using an EEG test.
I have searched the internet and have found information on tests ran by the MOD in 1984.These tests on a 160 alcoholic epileptics found when the alcohol withdrew from thier bodie it caused heat shock protiens N70-N40 to spark in the brain.These sparks were actually powerful enough, Not only to cause seizures but to physically damage the protective covering of the brain.
