    AutoNation's Q1 net income rises 17%

    Net income for the nation's largest new-car retailer jumped 17 percent in the first quarter to $111.5 million, the company AutoNation also said that it purchased two dealerships in April: a Mercedes-Benz store in San Jose, Calif., and a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram store in Valencia, Calif. It also entered an agreement to purchase a Jaguar-Land Rover-Volvo store in Spokane, Wash.

    AutoNation profit rises 17% in Q1

    The Fort Lauderdale-based automotive retailer reported that its positive performance in the first quarter can be attributed to better sales in new and used vehicles. Income from domestic brand sales were up 24 percent, year-over-year, to $64 million in the first quarter.
