Since its opening, the family-owned and operated business has added new clothing lines and furniture and stayed true to its responsible fashion mantra by holding local events, working with sustainable designers and becoming a part of the community. After hearing overwhelming feedback from the Shorewood community, The Waxwing has decided to keep its popular arts and gifts boutique open for another year. Store owner Steph Davies announced earlier this month that she would be closing at the end of February, because her landlord Nat Davauer planned to expand his Draft and Vessel business next door. Earlier this month, OnMilwaukee.com broke the news that Steph Davies' art and gift consignment shop, Waxwing, would close at the end of February because the building owner, Nat Davauer, wanted to expand his next-door business, Draft & Vessel, into the space. Well, after much consideration and an overwhelming reaction from the Shorewood community, loyal shoppers and local artists, plans have changed and The Waxwing will remain open through January of 2016.
