Algoma Central Corp., a major owner of commercial real estate in downtown Sault Ste, Marie, is reporting sharply higher real estate earnings in the final three months of 2014, compared to the same period last year. Fourth-quarter results released by the company on Friday showed profit of $894,000 in the three months ended December 31, 2014, compared to $470,000 over the same period in 2013. Comment?

Cloverland Electric customers in the Eastern U.P. may not have to pay $4.6 million to keep open another company's power plant after a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ruling released on Thursday. This issue started when mines in the U.P. stopped purchasing power from Wisconsin Energy, prompting the company moved to close its Presque Isle Power Plant. Comment?

Residents and businesses in the eastern part of the Upper Peninsula say it's unfair that they may have to shoulder $4.6 million to keep Wisconsin Energy Corporation's Presque Isle Power Plant open. When the Presque Isle Power Plant lost its mining customers in the western Upper Peninsula, plant owner Wisconsin Energy Corporation moved to shut it down. Comment?
