Chances are excellent that, if you're dining at a restaurant with "Hunan" in its name, you're not eating food anyone born in Hunan province would recognize. Four decades after Americans fell for this fiery Chinese regional cuisine, "Hunan food" has come to mean "Chinese takeout with extra chiles." Comment?

Chinatown powerhouse Rose Pak delivered $220,000 in $500 checks to Mayor Ed Lee 's big fundraiser at the Hilton the other evening - but it came at a price. "You might want to take a bathroom break before you hear what I have to say," Pak told the mayor just before she addressed the 300-plus people at the event. Comment?
