PATERSON - A city police officer was involved in a shooting in the city's 1st Ward early Saturday morning, officials told The Paterson Press . Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale told the newspaper that a city officer was involved in a shooting near the corner of Union Avenue and Jasper Street at about 1:30 a.m. Speziale said the officer was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center to be treated for trauma. An explosion inside the building caused part of the roof to collapse and the building's owner, who met firefighters outside as they arrived, had to be treated for minor burns at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, Passaic fire Chief Patrick Trentacost said.
