An Oak Harbor man was airlifted with a serious eye injury Wednesday evening after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a fence off East Crescent Harbor Road. The crash took out a regulator station operated by Cascade Natural Gas, causing the evacuation of at least 40 homes in base housing at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Comment?

Between safety proofing a home against hazards like stairs and helping the person with dementia take care of even the simplest of tasks, it's a huge job to take on. But according to the Alzheimer's Association, about 70 percent of people with Alzheimer's or other dementia-related illnesses are cared for at home. Comment?
