Mack Trucks has agreed to properly manage the hazardous waste at its truck assembly plant in Macungie, Pennsylvania, and pay a $54,800 penalty to settle alleged violations of hazardous waste regulations. Lehigh County Court Of Common Pleas Judge, Michele Varrichio, Thursday heard attorney pre-trial arguments for well over two hours from Philadelphia lawyers representing both the developer of Lower Macungie's newest shopping center Hamilton Crossings and the attorney representing the owners of Trexler Mall and Trexlertown Plaza. This past summer, Cedar Realty Trust, the owner of the Trexlertown Mall and Trexlertown Plaza shopping centers filed a lawsuit against the Lower Macungie Township commissioners claiming two ordinances it passed for tax incremental funding be stricken because tax breaks to incentivize the building of Hamilton Crossings were unnecessary and unfair. Comment?

Over 100 Upper Macungie Township residents packed to nearly overflowing capacity the township's meeting room Thursday to ask the board of supervisors to vote down a proposed trucking company distribution warehouse. Some residents are calling the proposed center a "crossdock trucking terminal" which may serve as a port for possibly over 300 trucks per day with 80 bays. Comment?
