Yik Yak, which functions like an anonymous, location-based Twitter feed, became a problem at Peninsula high schools in September, when inappropriate posts about students and even faculty began appearing. Though that activity has since subsided, school officials have been working to get a “geofence” that would block the app from the district's Internet network. Comment?

The political consulting firm that ran Torrance Mayor Pat Furey's campaign has been awarded more than $110,000 in attorneys' fees by a judge who dismissed a pair of lawsuits stemming from robocalls made during a Simi Valley election. Ventura County Superior Court Judge Kent Kellegrew ordered plaintiffs in the suits to pay $114,380.07 to Patrick Furey - the mayor's son - as well as his company, Liberty Campaign Solutions, and a political action committee he helped established, Justice Political Action Committee.
