GENEVA – Kane County is getting a renovated morgue, as crews began work this week to gut and remodel it, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell said. The morgue temporarily closed in June because of mold contamination, and autopsies have been outsourced to the DuPage County Morgue. Comment?

A 47-year-old Geneva man accused of murdering his wife has entered not guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree murder, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Shadwick King appeared in court on Wednesday for a brief hearing where his attorney, assistant public defender Brenda Willett, also requested a speedy trial , according to the Kane County Chronicle. A grand jury has indicted Shadwick King on two counts of murder in the July death of his wife in west suburban Geneva, the Elgin Courier News is reporting. King, 47, is accused of killing his wife "by means of asphyxia" on July 6. Kathleen King's body was found on the Union Pacific railroad tracks south of Esping Park not far from the couple's home on Oak Street, according to authorities and the indictment. Comment?
