AvalonBay Communities, Inc., the owner of a massive apartment complex in Edgewater that caught fire last month, leaving some 500 people homeless, announced Wednesday it would voluntarily enhance its fire protection systems for two other developments planned in the state. Avalon representatives said the company will install more sprinklers throughout the proposed buildings, including in the attics and closets and between ceilings and floors. Comment?
