Ben Edelman, who teaches Negotiation, Organizations and Markets at the college, ordered $53.53 worth of takeaway Chinese food from Sichuan Garden in Brookline, Massachusetts, but was furious when the bill was $4 more than he had added up on the online menu. You've already heard about the Harvard Business School professor's angry emails to a Chinese restaurant manager because of a $4 overcharge, right? In his emails to Ran Duan of the Sichuan Garden and the Baldwin Bar, Ben Edelman, an associate professor at the elite business school , demanded a $12 refund, citing the "Massachusetts consumer protection statute, MGL93a, wherein consumers broadly receive triple damages for certain intentional violations." It is, Edelman wrote, "a serious violation to advertise one price and charge a different price." Comment?

The Boston Globe reports that associate professor Benjamin Edelman complained to the Sichuan Garden after the Brookline, Massachusetts restaurant charged him $1 more on each of the four items he ordered. When we first saw headlines Wednesday morning that the feds were pledging $1B to extend the MBTA Green Line , we immediately looked to see if Wellesley might be included. Alas, the expansion is planned for Medford and Somerville , so it seems the Woodland stop near Newton-Wellesley Hospital remains as close as the Green Line will get to Wellesley for now. Comment?
