    Schwab: Hoops season begins with bang in Tri-Cities

    The boys basketball season only begins Monday but area hoops fans shouldn't wait long to pick out a warm seat. Not with the caliber of players that will be flocking to the Tri-Cities for Thanksgiving tournament action, with St. Charles East and Batavia each holding their traditional season-opening tournaments.

    HOFFMAN ESTATES – The Wheaton Academy boys soccer team left little doubt about which team is superior in Class 2A this season. For the second straight day, the Warriors were able to emerge victorious in dominating fashion, defeating St. Joseph, 5-1, in Saturday's IHSA Class 2A state championship match.

    Boys soccer: St. Viator falls in 3rd place game

    St. Viator fell in its final match of the boys soccer season Saturday, ending a marvelous, memorable year which included an East Suburban Catholic Conference title and a Class 2A fourth-place state trophy following its 1-0 loss to Springfield at Hoffman Estates High School. The Lions , who lost in heartbreaking fashion on Friday in a shootout to eventual state runner-up St. Joseph, left the stadium alongside their head coach Mike Taylor, who was happy and thrilled for his club, despite falling short in its bid to lift its third state crown.
