    The Webster City boys earned some revenge Friday night, claiming a 52-45 North Central Conference victory over St. Edmond. Mason Myers and Avery Fuhs tallied 21 points a piece for the Lynx , who jumped out to a 13-6 lead entering the second quarter.

    Luke TerHark and Peter Hollinger made sure the Algona boys would complete a season sweep over St. Edmond here Tuesday, as the Bulldogs posted a 57-48 win. Earlier this year, Algona earned a 13-point victory in its home gym.

    WCHS girls get stingy on D, clip Cowgirls

    The shots might not have been falling, but that didn't stop the Webster City girls' basketball team from buckling down at the defensive end of the court Friday night. Playing various zone defenses, the Lynx stymied the outside shooting of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and held the Cowgirls to 17 points below their season average in a 36-27 North Central Conference victory.

Clear Lake's aggressive full-court pressure defense put Webster City back on its heels - mentally and physically - in a North Central Conference girls' basketball game won easily by the Lions, 50-33.

    The St. Edmond wrestling team witnessed first-hand what the rest of the Class 2A field will see later this year. North Central Conference rivals Webster City and Clear Lake each picked up dual meet wins over the Gaels, while the Lynx scored their second victory of the season over the Lions in the featured match.
