    Miners win fourth straight game

    The Miners football team won its fourth straight game last Friday at Canyon State Academy, defeating the Rams, 27 - 26. The schedule gets decidedly more challenging for the Miners as the season winds down, starting with this week's game against 13th-ranked Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. The Lions, who defeated sixth-ranked San Tan Foothills on the road last week, are considered by many to be the favorites to win the sectional championship and the accompanying automatic berth in the state playoffs.

    Miner swimmers make waves at Thursday, Saturday meets

    On Thursday, Oct. 9, the Miner swimmers traveled to Amphitheater High School to compete against Tanque Verde, St. Augustine and Amphitheaters High Schools. The Miner Girls finished second in the four way meet: Tanque Verde 89, San Manuel 66, St. Augustine 63, and Amphi 20. The Boys looked solid in every event and won the meet by a large margin: San Manuel 103, Tanque Verde 61, St. Augustine 36, Amphi 1. The Miner Girls were unable to win an event, but finished second in both freestyle relays which was enough for them to edge past St. Augustine in the final scores.
