Twenty years ago, Gary Ernst coached Mesa Mountain View to a 78-71 boys basketball state championship victory over Jerry Conner's Phoenix Shadow Mountain team.

    Queen Creek, McClintock move up in AIA placements

    Queen Creek and Tempe McClintock move two levels up to Division I in football, joining Scottsdale Chaparral, Paradise Valley, Oro Valley Ironwood Ridge and Marana Mountain View, who were all moved up one division in the Arizona Interscholastic Association's initial placement of schools in sports over the next three years.
