    Dragons water polo looking strong

    The water polo season is just underway, and Carroll's hopes are to improve on its state tournament finish last season. It was Carroll's highest finish last year, but with experience and talent, the team hopes to continue to build the program of the head coach's alma mater.

    Lake Ridge, Legacy, Mansfield still playing

    The top two girls soccer teams in District 14-5A, Lake Ridge and Legacy, battled to a 1-1 draw last week in the final regular season game, but they likely had eyes on this week's first round of the playoffs, commencing on Thursday. With the top two seeds heading into the playoffs, the teams are feeling good about their chances to keep playing into next week's second round.

    Paul Gibson has seen a lot in his more than two decades as the head baseball coach at L.D. Bell. But even he was scratching his head in amazement as teams spent the better part of a couple of weeks just trying to play a single game.

    Great area soccer clubs could exit playoffs early

    I've had a think about the area's girls and boys high school soccer teams, whose playoffs are about to start next week, and the area's chances of sending a team to the state tournament in Georgetown. There are some excellent Class 6A squads, including the Northwest Byron Nelson boys and girls, Carroll boys and girls and the Keller girls.
