    Basketball: Van Buren's defense stifles Siloam Springs

    Once again, Van Buren's defense stiffened after giving up some early points and shut down Siloam Springs to stay perfect in the 7A/6A-Central Conference with a 50-38 win Tuesday at Bates Arena. The Pointers , who leads the conference in defense by giving up just 39 points per league game, only allowed eight points in the second and third quarters combined after surrendering 14 first-quarter points to the Panthers .

    Cyclones comeback falls short

    Andy Campbell's 3-pointer with 17 second left in the game gave the Russellville Cyclones hope during their 49-48 loss to the Siloam Springs Panthers on Friday inside Cyclone Gymnasium. But his ensuing missed shot as time expired snatched it away, after he pulled RHS within one point.

    Lady Cyclones hang on for win

    Shameka Ealy and Alyssa Owens took turns chipping away at the Siloam Spings Lady Panthers during the Lady Cyclones' 44-38 victory on Friday inside Cyclone Gymnasium. Ealy finished the night with 20 points, while Owens scored 13. Ealy scored six in the first quarter to help lift the Lady Cyclones over Siloam Spings 11-8.

    Cyclones want big turnout for 'Night of Champions'

    The Russellville Cyclones are hoping for a big turnout for their game against the Siloam Springs Panthers on Friday to help celebrate the 1984-85 boys basketball State Champion Cyclones that will be honored as part of Russellville's ninth annual "Night of Champions." The basketball team members, coaches and cheerleaders will be recognized with a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at City Hall and a reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Russellville High School Commons area.
