    Prep baseball: Shorewood 19, Edmonds-Woodway 5

    Brendon O'Brien batted 2-for-3 with two RBI and four runs scored and Harrison Jacobs added five RBI for Shorewood to lead the Thunderbirds past Edmonds-Woodway in a Wesco 3A South contest. Spencer Jacobs went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored and Arthur Pate added an RBI and scored four more runs for Shorewood.

    After leading the Royals to their first ever girls basketball state championship this past Saturday with a 31 point, 17 rebound performance in Saturday's 54-42 win over Cleveland in the 3A state championship game, Pivec was named the 2014-15 Gatorade Washington Girls Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday morning. The award, which was established by the Gatorade Company in 1985, is now in its 30th year honoring high-school athletes' athletic excellence, as well as exemplary character on the field, in the classroom and in the community according to the email sent to Lynnwood head coach Everett Edwards informing him Pivec had won the award.
