    Sosa, Reagan shutout MacArthur

    Reagan junior pitcher Andres Sosa was hit twice with balls off the bat, but he shook it off to help the Rattlers beat MacArthur 4-0 in District 26-6A play Monday night. The only thing that went wrong for Reagan in the first inning of Monday's night game against MacArthur occurred while junior Andres Sosa was sitting in the dugout.

    Matadors drop second straight road game

    The Seguin High School baseball team concluded a gauntlet of four District 27-5A games in five days and the first round of the district schedule with a 10-1 road loss Boerne-Champion on Friday. The Matadors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Travis York drove in Willie Tijerina with a double, but the Chargers scored 10 unanswered runs on nine hits from that point.

    Girls soccer: Reagan rolls behind big second half

    Katy Johnson, Julia Thiel, Tia Pearcy and Tyanne Pearcy each scored goals as Reagan used a big second half to down New Braunfels Canyon 4-0 in a Class 6A bidistrict game on Friday at Toyota Field. The Rattlers snapped a scoreless tie at halftime, scoring three goals during a five-minute span early in the second half to take command.

    Girls soccer: Unicorns rally past Johnson

    Brooke Hanson scored two second-half goals as New Braunfels rallied to defeat Johnson 2-1 in a Class 6A bidistrict game on Thursday at Blossom West. The Unicorns won a playoff opener for the first time since 2012, when they defeated Johnson 1-0.

    Boys soccer: Botello sparks Brandeis to victory

    Patricio Botello scored two goals and assisted on two others as Brandeis romped past Corpus Christi King 5-1 in a Class 6A bidistrict game on Thursday at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi. Miguel Candelario, Cameron Gutierrez and Marlon Flores each added a goal apiece for the Broncos, who a year ago advanced to the regional tournament for the first time in history.

    The Seguin High School softball team wrapped up the first half of the District 27-5A schedule this week with its fifth and sixth consecutive district wins, hammering San Antonio-Kennedy 10-0 at home on Monday, and outlasting Boerne-Champion 3-1 on the road Tuesday evening. The tightly contested pitcher's duel in Boerne was scoreless through six innings, but the Matadors finally broke through with three runs in the top of the seventh.

    Marion softball cruises past Cole, Brooks

    The Marion High School softball team added a pair of lopsided victories to its District 26-3A ledger this week, dispatching San Antonio-Cole 15-0 on Monday, and handing San Antoni-Brooks a 14-0 shellacking on Tuesday. The Bulldogs only needed three innings to put the 15-run mercy rule into effect against Cole, plating three runs in the first, seven in the second, and five in the third.
