    Steele, Brennan fight through power outage

    Things became noticeably dimmer while Brennan's band was finishing up its show during halftime of the Bears' playoff game against Steele. The lights in the Alamodome didn't completely go out, but power to the scoreboards and play clock did.

    Gameday preview: Steele-Brennan

    He knew Brennan was coming up to Class 6A this season, and with both schools having two of the smallest 6A enrollments in the area, it was easy to envision a meeting between the schools. For a couple years, Lehnhoff said he's been keeping tabs on the Bears, knowing one night he might have to face them.

    Muddy field works to Apaches' benefit

    Two days of nearly continuous rain turned the grass field at Antonian into a muddy mess more suitable for off-roading than the modern game that is almost always played on artificial turf. Sure footing was almost as non-existent as the yardage markers washed away by the rain and muck.

    Aledo rushed for 393 yards and needed to pass just six times as the Bearcats strolled to a 49-17 victory over the Denton High School Broncos Friday night in a Class 5A, Region I, Division I area championship game at Northwest ISD Stadium. The Bearcats will advance to the regional quarterfinals and face the winner of Saturday's El Paso Del Valle/Amarillo Palo Duro area championship game.

    Churchill volleyball team falls in 6A semifinal

    It might be a while before the team is able to get past what transpired in Friday's Class 6A state semifinals. Churchill fought off three match points to put itself a point from victory, but fell to defending state champion The Woodlands 18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 17-15 before 3,245 at the Culwell Center .
