    Marion boys push streak to 11 with rout of Fox Tech

    The Marion High School boys' basketball team pushed its winning streak to 11 games and moved to 4-0 in District 26-3A Tuesday night with an 82-47 home trouncing of San Antonio-Fox Tech. The Bulldogs set the tone early with a 19-6 run in the first quarter, then won the second period 25-14 to take a 44-20 cushion into halftime.

    Marion girls roll past Fox Tech for district win

    The Marion High School girls' basketball team held San Antonio-Fox Tech scoreless in the second and fourth quarter of a 95-7 win over the Buffaloes in the MHS gymnasium on Tuesday. The Bulldogs nearly shut out Fox Tech in the first quarter, jumping out to 28-2 lead by the end of the period.

    Matadors drop road game, district lead to Mules

    The Seguin High School boys' basketball team has held or shared the top spot in the District 27-5A standings for more than a month, but the Matadors relinquished that position Tuesday night with a 61-50 loss to Alamo Heights at the Muledome in San Antonio. The defeat drops Seguin into a second-place tie with Floresville at 8-3 in district play, and Alamo Heights is now in sole possession of first place with a 9-2 district record.

    Seguin girls come up short at home to Alamo Heights

    The pursuit of one of the four available playoff berths in District 27-5A will be a bit more difficult for the Seguin High School girls' basketball team after a gut wrenching 42-39 loss to Alamo Heights at Goldie Harris Gym on Tuesday. After trailing most of the fourth quarter, the Matadors tied the game at 38-all with 1:26 remaining when Desiree Martin came up with a steal, and Cortlin Buchanan drove the length of the court, made a layup in traffic, drew a foul, and drained the ensuing free throw for a three-point play.

    Seguin girls rout Memorial 63-14

    The Seguin High School girls' basketball team completed a season sweep of San Antonio-Memorial in District 27-5A with a 63-14 shellacking of the Lady Minutemen on Friday at Edgewood Gym. The Matadors led 13-5 at the end of the first quarter, 32-8 at halftime, and 50-11 by the end of the third period.
