    O'Connor's David Collenback and MacArthur's Tommy Alfieri shuffled their players around the field Saturday at Wolff Stadium like they were pieces on a chessboard, trying to squeeze a run out of a scoreless contest. Then O'Connor senior David Worrell laced a hit up the middle of the field that sent the Panthers to the next round.

    David Worrell felt the all-too-familiar sentiments of depression and heartbreak creeping in after last week's loss against East Central. The O'Connor senior was on the mound when the Panthers suffered their only loss of the season and were suddenly staring at a quick exit from the Region IV-6A playoffs.

    The Denton boys 400-meter relay team is the school's first relay squad to make the state meet since 2003. Even during football season, the Denton track team was talking about Friday's Class 5A state track and field meet at Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

    Warriors steal game from Hornets on senior night 4-3

    With seating for the playoffs on the line, the Warren Warriors were able to come from behind on senior night in Warren to take down the Hardin Hornets in eight innings 4-3. Coming off a tough 4-1 loss to Buna earlier in the week, the Warriors knew they needed to get back on track with their bats as Buna pitcher Joe Clark held the Warriors to just one hit over seven innings.
