    Stellick's late goal lifts Geneva past Lake Park

    Playing in her first high school postseason game, Geneva freshman Maddie Stellick picked an opportune time to notch the first playoff goal of her prep career Wednesday night. Stellick sent a point-blank shot into the back of the net with 17:25 remaining in the second half to snap a 1-1 deadlock and propel the seventh-seeded Vikings to a 2-1 Class 3A girls soccer regional semifinal victory over Lake Park at Burgess Field.

    Geneva girls soccer beats Lake Park, sets up regiona...

    GENEVA – The Geneva girls soccer team came into Wednesday's regional semifinal match against Lake Park with a lot of players playing in their first-ever playoff game. It showed for a little bit after the Vikings allowed a first-half goal, but with a motivational halftime talk and strong leadership, the Vikings came away with a 2-1 victory to keep their season alive.

    Defiant WW South wins league title

    But the Tigers had a win for the ages -- their fourth title in their last six attempts -- Thursday night in Roselle. "Our word this season has been 'defy,'" said WW South senior pole vaulter Heidi Nassos, who won the event on criteria at 11 feet and placed second in the triple jump.
