With nothing on the line in terms of conference races, Wheaton North and Lake Park still had plenty to play for in Wednesday's DuPage Valley finale. Motivation in mind, Wheaton North ended the regular season on a positive note with a 51-44 victory over outright DVC champion Lake Park in Roselle. Comment?

Heading into Friday night allowing only 39.9 points a game in DuPage Valley Conference boys basketball play and needing a win on the road against Naperville Central to clinch a share of the league title, Lake Park had a pretty good idea it would get what it needed defensively. However, in a game played in the 40s, it was the Lancers' ability to hit timely shots and knock down free throws on an otherwise off-night offensively that gave Lake Park the edge it needed in a 46-43 win. The seeding process recognizes the top teams in a sectional, but ever since the IHSA did away with home regional games for higher seeds the idea of seeding has taken on less importance. Like every sport, it's all about the matchups. Comment?

ROSELLE – While the Geneva girls basketball team's offensive was trying to gain traction in the first half of Tuesday's IHSA Class 4A Lake Park Regional semifinal, the defense kept it ahead of the host school. The Viking offense finally got on track in the second half to put the game away in the 58-36 victory. Comment?
