    McDaniel, Lake Park top WW South at the buzzer

    With the score tied midway through the fourth quarter, each team had its share of chances to move ahead, but neither Lake Park nor Wheaton Warrenville South was able to score a single point until the final second. It was at that moment that Lake Park senior guard Marcus McDaniel drove through a crowded lane and scored the winning basket on a layup.

    The 5-foot-10 junior drove the right baseline and scored the game-winning basket with 1.7 seconds to play Friday night, giving the Lancers a 52-51 girls basketball victory against host Naperville North at the Naperville North/Benet Tournament. "Players make plays is what we live for, so I just had to finish that one for us," said Cillick, who finished the game with 8 points.

    Lake Park banks on defense against Naperville Central

    This wasn't a normal meeting between DuPage Valley Conference boys basketball teams, which might explain Tuesday's ragged play between Lake Park and Naperville Central. The Lancers proved to be a little less ragged, especially in the second half while pulling away to a 45-34 win in an Addison Trail Invite game played in Roselle.

    It's not pretty, but Lake Park defeats Naperville North

    Conference play isn't always pretty, but the Lake Park boys basketball team will certainly take its 40-29 victory over Naperville North. The Lancers' 17-point second quarter was the big difference against a Huskies team that uncharacteristically struggled in the DuPage Valley Conference opener at Lake Park on Friday.
