    Cougars can't find crucial hit in 2-1 loss

    At both game - and series end - on Friday, Newnan seemed just a step away from reaching the second round of the Class AAAAAA State Baseball Playoffs for the second consecutive year following a 2-1 loss to Hillgrove at Joe Pope Field. The Cougars stranded nine runners for a total of 20 over their two playoff losses in Games 1 and 3 this week, unable to come up with enough clutch hits while also struggling to shut down a hard-nosed Hillgrove team that had been in playoff mode since mid April.
