    Bulldogs bite Meigs, 71-32

    Athens - fresh off its Division III state final appearance a little over a week ago - had only one week to prepare for its season opener, but the hosts still looked like they had the full six weeks of prep time Friday night during a 71-32 victory over the Meigs boys basketball team in a Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division matchup at McAfee Gymnasium in Athens County. The host Bulldogs shot 47 percent from the field and jumped out to an early 15-2 lead en route to a 22-7 advantage after eight minutes of play.

    Marauders fall to Fairland, 67-53

    The Fairland boys basketball team held a plus-20 advantage in rebounding Tuesday night, as the Dragons cruised to a 67-53 victory over non-conference host Meigs at Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium. The Marauders led 14-to-11 at the end of the opening quarter and held the three-point advantage midway through the second quarter.

    Lady Marauders hold off Wellston, 48-40

    The Meigs girls basketball team claimed a 48-40 victory over Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division guest Wellston, ending the Lady Marauders 26-game in league games. Meigs' last TVC Ohio win was January 5, 2012 by a 52-44 count in Wellston.
