    Varsity Bulldogs improve to 5-0

    Moving their game up 24 hours for the expected rain on Thursday, the varsity baseball team of Newberry High School remains undefeated at 5-0 and 3-0 in regional play after their 7-1 victory Wednesday evening at Bill Harvey Field over the previously undefeated Fairfield Central Griffins. Winning pitcher Ryne Huggins found himself with the bases loaded and two outs to begin the game but the Griffin hit into the 6-3 putout at first.

    Newberry High School girls soccer is 2-0 in region

    The Newberry High School Lady Bulldogs soccer team went 2-0 in region play after a 10-0 victory over region rival Eau Claire Shamrocks of Columbia. Newberry was suffering from the serious injuries of two key players, senior Dana Cornejo and freshman Elayna Sorcia.

    NHS JVs sweep Saluda in baseball

    A light mist fell on Bill Harvey Field while the Saluda team was unloading off the bus but the rain gave way to the Bulldogs picking up double header wins as each game went 4.5 innings of play. Newberry's Tyran Gray had a perfect game going into the top of the third inning when he gave up a walk while the no-hitter would be out of the picture after giving up a single to start off the fourth.

    Newberry Academy baseball opens

    The recent rainy weather has been a nightmare for scheduling baseball games, but Newberry Academy was finally able to get their season underway on Monday at Newberry College's Smith Road Complex. The Eagles opened in style with a double-header, winning the opener 7-0 against Northside Christian and later dispatching Greenwood Christian, 5-4, in the night-cap.

    Varsity Bulldogs win two games in 24 hours

    Aside from a little rain on Wednesday, the Newberry High School varsity baseball team could not have asked for a more of beautiful day to open their 2015 home season with victories over Whitmire on Tuesday and Saluda on Wednesday. The varsity Bulldogs won 13-0 in 4.5 innings of play to complete the sweep of Whitmire on Tuesday.
