    Richard Winn grabs a rebound win

    The Eagles' last three games resulted in a close loss to Newberry Academy, a comfortable win against W. Wyman King Academy and a lopsided loss to Laurens Academy. "We went to Laurens and we fell off the face of the Earth," said Joe Pitt, boys basketball coach for Richard Winn.

    Lady Bulldogs squeak by Columbia, now lead region

    When the Newberry High School Lady Bulldogs got off the bus Friday at Columbia High School, they were in a three-way tie for first place in the region with Keenan and the Lady Capitals. Each team was 1-1 against the other two teams when they met in the first half of regional play.

    NHS boys pull off close win over Columbia, 63-61

    After graduating nine players off last year's state championship team, youth and inexperience seemed to be the outlook for the 2014-15 Newberry High School boys basketball team. But through hard work, determination and maturing each day throughout the season, the Bulldogs are now on a three-game regional winning streak after a 63-61 victory Friday at Columbia High.

    Lady Bulldogs thump Eau Claire by 37

    When Tyshiria Bates put up a jumper just outside the paint with five minutes to go in the first quarter Tuesday evening in the Scott Gym, she gave her Newberry High School Lady Bulldogs its first lead of the evening against Eau Claire at 4-3. Newberry would finish the quarter on an 11-to-one point run as they would finish the first half of regional play at 5-1 while improving their overall record to 14-2 after their 64-27 victory.

    Newberry Academy Eagles sweep the Crusaders

    Emily Senn helped seal the game in overtime going five for six at the free throw line and scoring seven points overall in the extra period. Senn finished with a season-high 24 points.

    The Shamrocks led after the first quarter by just a lone point, 13-12, but a 29-18 Newberry run in the second quarter gave the Bulldogs a 10-point lead at the break, 41-31.     Newberry Academy Eagles end on a high note

    A rough week for Newberry Academy basketball ended on a positive note Friday night in Winnsboro, as the boys' team pulled out a 51-48 win over Richard Winn. Earlier in the night, the Lady Eagles suffered through a 56-16 loss at the hands of Richard Winn, the defending SCISA state champs.
