    Community turns out for C.J. Mosley's first football...

    Theodore football coach Eric Collier opened the C.J. Mosley Get Fit Football Camp on Saturday by introducing the camp's namesake, saying the Baltimore Ravens linebacker was "a better young man than a ballplayer, and he's the best ballplayer I've ever coached." Maybe that's why it seemed as though a good portion of Theodore turned out to shake his hand, hug his neck or pose for a photo with Mosley after a nearly four-hour football clinic at Theodore High School.

    Two teams with an eye on returning to the playoffs in their respective classifications this fall faced off to finish the spring in Bay Minette on Friday night. The coaches played their top players for the first half and one offensive series each in the third quarter, then erased the score on the scoreboard and let the reserves finish the game.

    Former Chickasaw coach Ronnie Cottrell introduced at...

    Former Alabama and Florida State assistant coach Ronnie Cottrell officially joined the Mobile Christian staff on Friday afternoon less than 24 hours after the Chickasaw City School Board of Education opted to non-renew his contract at that school. Cottrell, 56, will serve in a unique co-head coach role with current Leopards coach Tommy Wasden this fall.

    Less than 24 hours after the Chickasaw school board voted not to renew his contract, Ronnie Cottrell stepped into a bright Friday afternoon sunlight and shook hands with his new boss at Mobile Christian. Cottrell, 56, has agreed to serve as the co-head coach of the Leopards with Tommy Wasden in 2015 before assuming command as head coach in 2016.

    The Chickasaw City School Board non-renewed a host of employees at a specially-called meeting on Thursday night in Chickasaw. Cottrell confirmed to later in the evening he had been told on Wednesday by superintendent Kyle Kallhoff he would not be renewed.

    Nerves didn't seem to be a problem for Mobile Christian in its first AHSAA state baseball championship series Wednesday at Montgomery's Paterson Field. The Leopards pounded out 15 hits, scored in five innings and rolled over Randolph County 15-2 in a game shortened to six innings by the mercy rule in Game 1 of the Class 2A title series.

All had some terrific performances turned in during their quarterfinal series last week, as did Bayside Academy though the Admirals lost eventually at Geneva.
