    Start at Don Drumm Stadium in Marietta, where the host Tigers will face Parkersburg High School for the 110th time in what is one of the nation's oldest football rivalries. Parkersburg has dominated the series, winning 76 times compared to 27 for Marietta and six games that ended in a tie.

    Blue Devils fall to Marietta, 21-14

    The Marietta football team scored on three plays of over 40 yards Friday night in a 21-14 victory over non-conference guest Gallia Academy at Don Drumm Stadium. The Tigers broke open a 13-0 lead on a 62-yard touchdown run at the 2:53 mark of the first quarter and a 44-yard touchdown at the 8:39 mark of the second quarter, both by tailback Bernard Johnson.

    For 79 minutes and 52.5 seconds, neither Warren nor Athens could find the back of the net in a pivotal Southeastern Ohio Athletic League soccer match. But with 7.5 seconds remaining on the clock, Warren freshman Zed Strahler out-ran Athens defenders to an Aaron Mazurkiewicz pass down the field and knocked it past the goalkeeper to give the Warriors a 1-0 victory.

    MHS boys beat New Philly 1-0 on Feathers' goal

    Jared Feathers scored a goal in the 50th minute, and Marietta's defense worked its third shutout in a row as the Tigers defeated New Philadelphia, 1-0, in an East Central Ohio League match Tuesday at Devola Soccer Complex. Marietta settled for scoreless ties with Parkersburg South and Athens last week before the offense finally found the back of the net against the Quakers.

    Williamstown escapes with 41-32 triumph over Marietta

    Williamstown quarterback Dakota Watson probably didn't drive the team bus to Don Drumm Stadium Friday night, but he did just about everything else for the Yellowjackets as they bested Marietta, 41-32, in the "Rumble On the River." Watson carried the ball 25 times for 195 yards and three touchdowns and also threw it 10 times, completing six passes for 97 yards and two more scores.

    With a pair of NCAA Division I prospects in quarterback Joe Burrow and runningback Trae Williams in the backfield, along with an arsenal of talented, athletic weapons out wide and some big, freakish dudes up front, the Bulldogs possess a high-powered machine of an offense. Athens plays Anthony Fish-coached Warren this week and Fish knows all about the Bulldogs, having coached at Alexander in the TVC-Ohio Division in recent years.
