    Boys Soccer: Brookfield's Kevin Abrams scored the game winning goal as the Beavers remained undefeated at 6-0 with a 2-1 win over DeRuyter. Abrams is currently second in Section III goal scoring with 10 goals.

    After a Week One loss at Baldwinsville, Auburn head coach Dave Moskov and his assistants worried as they watched video of their next opponent - Cicero-North Syracuse - and its opening victory in the Carrier Dome. "We said, 'Boy, this team has got it going on,' " Moscov said of the Northstars' 42-28 win over Fayetteville-Manlius .

    F-M, CBA football roar back with big wins

    Injuries at key spots, along with poor performances, had followers of the Fayetteville-Manlius and Christian Brothers Academy football teams concerned in ways far beyond the losses they took in their respective season openers at the Carrier Dome. F-M, minus senior quarterback Jake Wittig, returned home and, with sophomore Henry Josephson running the show, put away visiting Utica Proctor 41-19, while CBA, making a visit to its neighbors from Nottingham, had no trouble at all on its way to a 51-6 victory.

    It was a sweet matchup to open the high school cross country season featuring the top two teams in the state and two of the top 10 teams in the country. And while the boys teams from Fayetteville-Manlius and Liverpool have a long season ahead of them and several other run-ins scheduled, the early showdown produced an emphatic smackdown on Wednesday.

    F-M boys soccer returns to Swan Pond

    Part of the deep, abiding tradition of Fayetteville-Manlius soccer was brisk fall evenings spent in the shadow of the Village Library and games under the tall lights of the field known to one and all as Swan Pond. This fall, the boys Hornets, who spent the last two seasons playing most of its home games on the newly-installed Field Turf on the F-M High School campus, are back at Swan Pond, hoping the move helps lead to a first outright sectional title since 2004.
