Now Harvard-Westlake hopes it can carry this momentum into the final four games of the Mission League season, including a big two-game series this week against Alemany.

    The Peninsula High baseball team scored the game-winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning, handing Mira Costa its second straight heartbreaking loss in Bay League play. With the bases loaded, Josh Weisinger hit a hard grounder to Zack Chan, who threw wide to the plate, allowing Daichi Kamata to score the winning run in a 2-1 victory.

The Sea Kings reached the final after beating Manhattan Beach Mira Costa in the semifinals, 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20 Miller led CdM with 16 kills, while Ryan Moss and Kobrine had 10 kills each.

    Soccer player and construction worker Robert "Bobby" L. Sibbald, of Redondo Beach, died unexpectedly in his sleep, at his home on March 31. He was 46. Hermosa Beach anti-oil activist Chris Miller has been removed from the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as a result of allegations that she led an obscene chant against a police officer. The Hermosa Beach McCarthy Racing Team had high expectations when it entered The Mint 400 outside of Las Vegas last month.
