    Prep highlights for April 24

    Josh Mettler delivered a home run, single, scored two runs and recorded the save by closing the game with two strikeouts and the bases loaded as Central Section ninth-ranked Bullard continued to chase Edison for the CMAC title with a 7-5 win at Memorial. Mike Alvarez 's two-run single at home in the seventh had put the Panthers in position for a dramatic walk-off before Mettler slammed the door for the Knights, who will end the conference season with two games against Edison in two weeks.

    Prep baseball rankings: Clovis West and Madera make ...

    Alec Gamboa, one of the Central Section's elite three-sport athletes, has helped hurl Madera into County/Metro Athletic Conference contention and into the fast lane of Fresno Bee rankings. Clovis West High and Madera, coming off sweeps of highly ranked foes in the Tri-River Athletic and County/Metro Athletic conferences, have surged in The Bee's Central Section baseball rankings.

    Karen Zamora drew a full-count, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning as The Bee's Central Section top-ranked Central walked off with a 3-2 win over No. 2 Clovis in a showdown for first place in the TRAC.

    Prep highlights for April 9

    Travis Turner , a senior right-hander, pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven as Sanger defeated Madera South 6-0 in the County/Metro Athletic Conference. Israel Uribe , a three-year varsity player, fanned 11 in a five-hitter and drove in a run as Lindsey won 4-3 at home against a Woodlake team that entered as the East Sequoia League co-leader.
